Charlie Leon Anderson

BATESVILLE–Charlie Leon Anderson, 76, died Sunday, August 24, 2008, at his residence.

Services are today at 2 p.m. at Dickins Chapel. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church Cemetery. Dickins Funeral Home has charge.

Anderson, born May 17, 1932, to the late Robert Anderson and Vera Collier Anderson, served in the Korean War in the U.S. Navy on the USS Whitehurst DE-634. He was a retired electrician with the Corps of Engineers.

Survivors include: his wife, Mary Louise Crawford Anderson of Batesville; one daughter, Theresa Trimm of Memphis; two sons, Troy Reid of Oxford and Kenny Reid of Norfolk, Va.; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Mt. Olivet Methodist Church Cemetery, 159 Hunt Rd., Batesville.

Billy Glenn Houpt

WATER VALLEY–Billy Glenn Houpt, 79, died Wednesday, August 20, 2008, at his son’s residence in Panola County.

Services were Saturday at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley. Rev. Doug Pepper officiated. Burial was in was in Orrwood Cemetery. Seven Oaks Funeral Home had charge.

Houpt, was a Baptist. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War and was a retired Mississippi Highway Patrolman. He was a farmer owning land in Lafayette, Yalobusha and Calhoun Counties.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Locke Houpt.

Survivors include: his daughter, Billie Houpt of Irving, Texas; one son, Michael Houpt of Batesville; one sister, Bonnie Purvis of Toccopola; one brother, Mike Inman of Oxford and one granddaughter.

Elaine Doris Cassidy Peterson

BATESVILLE–Elaine Doris Cassidy Peterson, 69, died Saturday, August 16, 2008, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.

There will be no services. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Peterson, born Dec. 1, 1938, to the late Thomas Joseph and Lovetta Watens, in Waukon, Iowa, was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She was a cashier at Shell Gas Garden on Hwy. 6 East in Batesville and was a volunteer for Hospice.

Survivors include: three sons, Donald Williams of Arlington, Texas, Kenneth Williams of Batesville and David Williams of Pine Bluff, Ark.; one brother, John Cassidy of Waterloo, Iowa; 11 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.


Johnnie Junior White

CROWDER–Johnnie Junior White, 67, died Wednesday, August 20, 2008, at his residence.

Graveside services were Friday at Union Cemetery. Rev. Bob Hickey officiated. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge.

White, born July 2, 1941, in Shelby County, was a retired factory worker for Lindenburg Illinois Plastics.

Survivors include: two sons, Johnnie Raymond White and James White; one daughter, Teresa White and one brother, James White of Crowder.

Memorials may be made to Crowder Assembly of God or Union Bpitst Church in Sardis.
