Peola Davis

SARDIS– Peola Davis, 71, died Thursday, May 8, 2008, at the Ruleville Hospital.

Services were Sunday at Miles Chapel C.M.E. Church in Sardis. Rev. Johnny McDonald officiated. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery. Eddie Robinson and Son Funeral Home had charge.

Davis was born  April 5, 1937, to Edna Blakely of Sardis and the late Tommy Davis of Como.

Survivors along with his mother include: three sisters, Julie Blakely, Regina Blakely and Ester Blakely, all of Sardis; four brothers, Jack Blakely, Lawrence Blakely, Charles Blakely and Calvin Blakely, all of Sardis.

Michael David Dillon

SARDIS– Michael David Dillon, 55, died Sunday, May 11, 2008, at his residence.

Family will have a public visitation on Wednesday 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home. Burial will be in Forrest Memorial Park. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Dillon was born Oct. 7, 1952, in Niles, Mich. to Betty Ellzey of Sardis and the late David Dean Rachels.

Survivors along with his mother include: one son, Craig Dillon of Oxford; one sister, Kristy Elgart of Memphis; two brothers, Jeff Dillon of Sardis and Paul Dillon of Geneva, Ill.; one grandson and one step-granddaughter.

Wylma Miles Holcombe

SARDIS– Wylma Miles Holcombe, 96, died Thursday, May 8, 2008, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.

Services were Saturday at Como Baptist Church. Rev. Jay Michaels officiated. Burial was in Friendship Cemetery. Ray-Nowell Funeral Home had charge.

Holcombe, born Oct. 17 1911, in Hickory Plains, Ark., to the late Bethel and Allie Miles, was a graduate of DeValls Bluff, Ark. High School. She lived and worked in Memphis, prior to moving to Como, after her marriage to Lamar Holcombe in 1941. They were married for 55 years. She was a homemaker and a member of Como Baptist Church for 59 years and a member of the Como Civic Club for 50 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lamar Holcombe.

Survivors include: one sister, Bernice Jackson of Searcy, Ark.

Memorials may be made to Como Baptist Church and/or Friendship Cemetery, c/o Mike Summer, 404 Coleman St., Como, Miss. 38619.

Nolton Leroy Wolfe

SARDIS– Nolton Leroy Wolfe, 59, died Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center..

Services were Saturday at Mt. Zion M.B. Church. Rev. Cedric Jackson officiated. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery. Henderson Funeral Home had charge.

Wolfe, born Nov. 10, 1948, to the late Leroy Wolfe Sr. and Leatha P. Wolfe of Sardis, attended North Panola and was a polisher for Cronecraft. He was a member of Mt. Zion M.B. Church.

Survivors along with his mother include: his wife, Annie Wolfe of Sardis; two daughters, Angela Wolfe and Showanda McKay, both of Sardis; four sisters, Clara D. Gipson of Memphis, Freddie B. Wolfe and Annie P. Wolfe, both of Sardis and Irene Galmore of Batesville.
