Vera Jennel Smith Allen

BATESVILLE– Vera Jennel “Jenny” Smith Allen, 72, died Thursday, August 16 at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.

She was the wife of Ed Allen.

Funeral services will be held at Sardis Lake Baptist Church on Monday, with visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. and the service set for 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in Forrest Hill Cemetery in Memphis. High Point Funeral Home in Memphis has charge of arrangements.

Bernard Rushing

BATESVILLE– Bernard Rushing, 82, died Monday, August 13, 2007, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi in Oxford.

Services were Wednesday at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Magnolia Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Rushing, born July 17, 1925, to the late Irving and Eunice Herrington Rushing in Neshoba County, was the owner of Rushing Hardware Store in Lambert for 36 years. He was also a United States Navy veteran serving in WWII. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Batesville.

Survivors include: his wife, Johnnie Ford Rushing of Batesville and one son, Robert Bernard Rushing of Senatobia.


Max Renard Schiele

LAMBERT– Max Renard Schiele, 83, died Tuesday, July 31, 2007, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi in Oxford.

Services were Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Lambert. Rev. Don O’Quin officiated. Burial was in Providence Cemetery near Grenada. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge.

Schiele, born Nov. 22, 1923, in Coffeeville was a farmer and served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was  a member and past master of Clarksdale Masonic Lodge 286, and was a member of Clarksdale York Rite Bodies.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia Schiele Bailey.

Survivors include: his wife, Virginia Abel Schiele of Lambert; two sons, Max Schiele Jr. of Lambert and Danny Schiele of Crowder; two sisters, Marie S. Brasher of Lambert and Louise Habig of Clayton, Calif.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.


Bob Williams

POPE– Bob Williams, 55, died Sunday, August 12, 2007, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.

Services are Saturday at 2 p.m. at Olive Ray M.B. Church in Pope. Rev. L.C. Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Olive Ray Cemetery. Visitation will be today 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.

Williams, born Dec. 15, 1951, to Ruthie Lloyd Williams of Pope and the late Lank Williams, was a member of Olive Ray M.B. Church.

Survivors along with his mother include: six sisters, Pamela Rudd, Racheal Baker and Clara Wyatt, all of Batesville, Annie Hartwell of Pinole, Calif., Ethel Taylor of Courtland and Leora Williams of Memphis and four brothers, Perry Williams of Batesville, Robert Williams of Courtland, Larry Williams of Pope and Lank Williams Jr. of Oakland.
