Townsend camp returns for 7th year

Deshea Townsend of the Super Bowl XL Champion PIttsburgh Steelers will host the seventh annual Pay It Forward Football Camp at the South Panola High School football field.

The camp is scheduled for Saturday, May 19 with registration from 9 to 9:50 a.m., with the camp beginning promptly at 10 a.m. There is no cost for the camp and it is open to aspiring football players from first through 12th grades.

Pre-registration is recommended and forms can be completed during business hours at the Boys and Girls Club of Batesville located in the old National Guard Armory Building on Highway 51 South or by mailing it to Boys and Girls Club of Northwest Miss., Batesville Unit, P.O. Box 825, Batesville, MS 38606.

Pre-registration should be mailed in by Friday, May 11, in order to receive a Pay It Forward T-shirt.

Assisting Townsend in the Pay It Forward Camp will be Super Bowl XL MVP Hines Ward, Joey Porter, Casey Hampton, Chris Hope and other special guests.

Volunteers are also needed for the camp and are encouraged to complete the pre-registration form at the Boys and Girls Club. Volunteers may also show up on the day of the camp during registration and they will be assigned as needed.
