Como should not pay market salary

Dear Editor,

We as citizens know that we do not pay a person for participating in a local farmers’ market. Everette Hill (mayor of Como) and the board of aldermen is paying Annie Perry Smith $300-500 each month for Farmers’ Market and she was paid $513.50 on June 11, 2019.

I had asked him in July town board meeting was she getting paid and he said no, and in the town board meeting in August, I asked again and he said he was paying her. Then I asked him what she was getting paid for and he wouldn’t answer me.

Please citizens we all need to come together and stop the misuse of our taxpayer dollars. This is all of the citizens of Como tax money, not just the Mayor and Board of Aldermen to do whatever they want to do with it.

Annie Perry Smith doesn’t even live here in our community and getting paid with our taxpayer dollars.

For the past 3 or 4 years Everette Hill and the Board of Aldermen have been using $13,000 or more for their own use, and to pay each other for Como Day and pay for some of the entertainment. They will be using $13,000 of our taxpayer money again for Como Day on Oct. 5, 2019, and never come back with a report on how it was spent.

And another concern I have is water bills. I promise you all of our citizens are not paying water bills and if you need proof you can contact me at 662-487-7477 and I will be glad to show you the proof.
