Mary Lynne Henry

MOORE, Okla. – Mary Lynne Henry, 68, formerly of Batesville, died Friday, July 19, 2013.
Memorial services were held Wednesday at John M. Ireland Funeral Home and Chapel in Moore, Okla. John M. Ireland Funeral Home had charge.

Henry, born March 2, 1945, in Batesville, to the late Charles and Mary Turner, was retired as an accountant from Reserve Petroleum in Oklahoma City.

Survivors include: her husband, Donald Henry; two daughters, Tracy Tramel and Angie Wall and four grandchildren.

Allan Lee Humphreys

BATESVILLE – Allan Lee Humphreys, 47, died Monday, July 8, 2013, at his home.

He was born in Memphis, on January 7, 1966, to Wanda Bouldin and William F. Humphreys Jr. He laid carpet and did handy work for the public.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 27, at Ellistown Baptist Church, Blue Springs, with Rev. Mike Powell officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. til service time at the church. Wells Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.

He is survived by his father, Bill Humphreys.

Lucile Thomas Goree Monk

BATESVILLE — Lucile Thomas Goree Monk, 89, died  July 23, 2013 at her residence.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 28, at the Batesville Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Ann Kelly presiding. Visitation will be held 2 p.m. until service time. She was born to L.E. and Gladys Thomas on December 4, 1923 in Charleston. She married Paul E. Goree in 1939. After his death, she married the Rev. Samuel S. Monk. 

She ended her working career at age 77 after serving several years as a house mother for the Alpha Gamma Deltas at Mississippi State and then for Alpha Omicron Pi at the University of Mississippi. She was also a secretary and bookkeeper for the family business. She was a member of the Batesville Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include: her daughter, Paulette Norman of Batesville; two step-daughters, Virginia Ann Hamilton of Germantown, Tenn. and Ruth Ellen Monk of Houston, Texas; one son, Mike Goree (Johanna) of Starkville; one brother, Lent E. Thomas, Jr. (Linda) of Batesville; 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Paul E. Goree, and Samuel S. Monk; one son, Paul E. “Eddie” Goree, Jr.; and a sister, Inez Warren.

Francis Tatum Tidwell

SARDIS — Francis Tatum Tidwell, 95, died Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at Sardis Community Nursing Home. She was the widow of William Doris Tidwell.

Services were held Thursday, July 25, in Wells Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Eric Payne officiating. Burial was in Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery.

Tidwell was born in Taylor, on June 3, 1918 to Brooks and Corrine Rowsey Tatum. She was a member of Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church and was a homemaker.

Survivors include: two daughters, Linda Carol Lawrence and Robbie Louise Polland both of Batesville; sons, William Wayne Tidwell of Batesville, Larry Brooks Tidwell of Batesville and Joe Allen Tidwell of Oxford; two sisters, Mildred Ann Lawback of Kansas and Jeanette Williams of Memphis; one brother, Joe Tatum of Coldwater; 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Doris Tidwell; daughter, Dorothy Ann Griffin; and a great grandchild, Samuel David “Davy” Bryant, III.

Lillian Cathryn Wilkins

OXFORD–Lillian Cathryn Wilkins, 61, formerly of Batesville, died Friday, July 12, 2013, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo.

She lived in the Oxford area since 1974.  She had worked for many years as a seamstress at City Cleaners and National Menswear in Oxford. Wilkins was a member of the Oxford Church of Christ.

There are no plans for a memorial service at this time. Coleman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Ray Wilkins of Oxford; one daughter, Anne Rikard of Oxford; one son, Danny Wilkins of Oxford; two brothers, Bill Lipe of Tupelo, and Tom Lipe of Florence, Ala.; two sisters, Virginia Langley of Southaven, and Anne Magee of Pope; three grandchildren.
