The North Delta Junior High football team defeated Lee Academy out of Arkansas 32-8.  The Cougars from Arkansas were no match for the Green Wave from the get go.
The first quarter’s two drives for North Delta both ended with touchdowns from Jimmy Manues. One was on the ground while the other was a 15-yard screen pass from Jordan Cox.
Cox returned from an injury that occurred in the first game of the season.
The Green Wave defense held the Cougars scoreless for the half.  The same could not be said for Lee Academy.
North Delta struck gold two more times in the second quarter.  The first score was a run by Cox who would have had another 64 yard run if it were not for holding.
Nevertheless, the Green Wave scored again with a 34 yard bomb from Cox to Drake Barton.
Each score in the first half was accompanied by a two-point conversion making the first half’s score 32-0 in favor of North Delta.
The second half saw experience for second team players whose time is usually limited including Layton Wells, Cole Fisher and Wailes Finke. The quality experience did not show on the scoreboard for the Green Wave but showed success.
The Cougars finally scored in the fourth quarter, but it was way too late.  North Delta Junior High would take this one 32-8.
With this win, they look to finish the season Thursday against Lee Academy (Clarksdale).
To lessen the confusion, the game will be held at home for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
