William Thomas ‘Bill’ Egbert

William Thomas “Bill” Egbert, age 45, passed away at his home in Pope.
Memorial service for Bill will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2016 in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with interment to follow in Magnolia Cemetery in Batesville. Mr. Michael Bates will be officiating the service. The family will receive friends beginning at 11 a.m. Tuesday prior to the service at Wells Funeral Home.
Bill was born March 1, 1971 in Batesville, to Deborah Gwen Guthrie and the late Larry Thomas Egbert. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Batesville.
Bill was a welder by trade and had a love for the outdoors, where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and mud-riding. He also had a passion for playing billiards and softball.
Bill’s memory will be cherished by his family, which includes his fiancée, Angela Durham of Senatobia; son, William Tyler Egbert of Batesville; mother, Deborah Gwen Guthrie of Batesville; sister, Ashley Guthrie Roebuck of Batesville; brother, Eric Samuel Guthrie of Hernando; step-brother, Jeremy Gedding Guthrie of Greenville, S.C.; grandparents, Mary Evelyn Ledbetter of Batesville and Sykes and Janie Wood of Grenada.
The family requests memorial contributions to be forwarded to the Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 1505, Batesville, MS 38606

Tommy Glenn Goodwin

Tommy Glenn Goodwin, 54, passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2016 in Charleston.  
He attended Friendship Church of God and loved fishing and hunting.  
Mr. Goodwin is survived by his sisters, Beverly Williams (Tracy) and Sybil Shields (TL) all of Courtland; Nina Freeman of Water Valley and Linda Harris of Batesville, and one brother, Roy Thomas Goodwin, Jr. (Gloria) of Charleston.  
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kate Young Goodwin and Roy Thomas Goodwin.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 4 at Dickins Funeral Home in Batesville, followed by interment in Friendship Cemetery in Charleston.
Dickins Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

BATESVILLE––Katherine Ausborn Lloyd, 83, died Thursday, June 9, 2016.
Services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Batesville Junior High School auditorium. Rev. Zannie Leland will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday 2 p.m. – 6 p.m. at Eddie Robinson Funeral Home in Batesville. Burial will be at Macedonia M.B. Church where she was an usher.
Lloyd, born Dec. 17, 1932, to the late Diamond Ausborn and Suzie Gleaton Ausborn, was secretary for Century Funeral Home and Henderson Funeral Home. She was currently working with Foster Grandparents Program at Batesville Elementary School.  She was also a member of the Sardis District Choir.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hezzie Lloyd, and infant daughter, and one brother, Robert Ausborn.  
Survivors include: daughter, Nyanthia Lloyd Townsend and her husband, Rev. Christopher Townsend of Courtland; daughter, Ernestine Burnett and her husband Eugene Burnett of Batesville; two grandsons, Chris Townsend II and Allan Burnett; three great-grandchildren.

Ann Davis Crouch Lynam

Ann Davis Crouch Lynam of Batesville passed away June 11.
She  was born on March 1, 1930 in Como to the late Isaac Newton Davis and Louise LeMaster Davis.
She is preceded in death by her first husband Daniel William Crouch and her second husband Harold Burnell Lynam.
Ann was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church of Batesville. She founded the Little Red Schoolhouse where she taught kindergarten for many years. She loved the students she taught as if they were her own children.
Ann was an avid reader and supporter of the Batesville Library, and she was a lover of all dogs, big and small.
Survivors include her sister-in-law Anne Davis of Como; two nieces, Louise Davis of Chicago, IL and Suzanne Brandon (husband David Brandon, Jr.) of Memphis; one nephew, Newt Davis of Sardis (wife Melissa Davis); two great-nieces, Anna Payton Davis and Camille Brandon; and three great-nephews, Will Davis, David Brandon III, and Charles Brandon. Her family knew her as Dolly.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 14 at 2 p.m. in the gathering hall at Batesville First United Methodist Church. A service will follow at 3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Batesville, 119 Panola Ave, Batesville, MS 38606.

Ruth Skipper Taylor

Ruth Skipper Taylor of Batesville, formerly of Sunflower, Miss. went to be with the Lord on June 11, 2016.  She was born in Atlanta, GA on February 24, 1914.  
She had a servant’s heart and expressed it in many ways through teaching music as well as kindergarten.  Her working career spanned seventy years, with final retirement at the age of 80.  
She loved the Lord and faithfully served as Sunflower Methodist Church’s pianist for 50 years.  She also graciously used her musical talents to play for many weddings and funerals.  
Her hobbies included gardening, cooking, reading, and doing handwork.
Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Winston Taylor, Jr. and her son Richard Winston Taylor III.  
She leaves behind her daughter, Annette Taylor Montgomery (Thurmon) of Batesville, MS, four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren.  
The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 14, 2016 from 2 p.m. until the 3 p.m. funeral service at Sunflower United Methodist Church, Sunflower.  
Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Greenwood, all under the direction of Burton Funeral Home, Indianola.
