NP places in Marshall meet

North Panola traveled to Marshall Academy on Wednesday morning to participate in a track meet. The Cougars fared well in their first meet of the season earning several ribbons on the day.
The Cougar relay teams had a good day, earning first in the 4X100, 4X200 and the 4X400 meter dashes for the girls and boys. The boys 4X100 meter and 4X200 meter teams consisted of Tyler Shorter,  Sylvonta Oliver, Kiron Covington and Lavonte Towns. The girls teams consisted of Iesha Glover, LaErica Spann, QuiTonya Webster and KiTyra Webb.
Boys 4X400 meter team was Kiron Convigton, Ankeyvias Harris, Jonathan Harris and Roydarius Jackson. The solo sprints also had a good day with Oliver winning the 100m dash for the boys.
In the 200 meter for the girls Spann won first place after winning by a large margin. For the boys in the 200m Townes placed first in the Jr. runs.  
In the boys 400 meter, Delvin Kimmons placed second in a close race that was won by only a stretch across the finish line to Marshall Academy. Kimmons placed second in the 800 meter run.
In girls 400 meter dash Shanique Burdette won first place, continuing her dominance from last season after going to state.
The Cougars won first place overall in the meet after compiling 10 first place ribbons and two second place ribbons.
Field events were canceled due to weather conditions. The Cougars will run again in Byhalia starting at 10:30 a.m.
