Lady Tigers shutout Columbus

The Lady Tigers varsity fastpitch softball team was ruthless in a double header against the Columbus Falcons Thursday afternoon at Lady Tigers’ field shutting out the Lady Falcons 15-0 in both games.
In the first inning, the Lady Tigers played a three up three down defense as senior pitcher Caroline Dickins struck out all three batters for the Lady Falcons. On offense, Chloe Morgan walked to first and stole her way to third before Mallory Meyers bunted the ball, driving Morgan home. Haley Reid singled to shortstop driving in Meyers.
In the second, Bethany Cotten, Amber Helmes and Chloe Morgan loaded the bases on walks. Meyers hit a double past short driving home Cotten and Helmes home. Dickins walked loading the bases again.
Chloe Morgan scored on a Red double past short, however Meyers  was thrown out at the plate.
Ali Cummins loaded the bases with a walk. On a 2-1 count Sydney Morgan slammed a pop fly to left for a three RBI double chasing Dickins, Reid and Cummins home. Morgan ran the bases as the left fielder kicked the ball to the fence.
Chloe Morgan’s walk drove home Morgan Parker. On a sacrfice by Meyers, Cotten scored.
Dickins walked loading the bases again. Reid’s triple to left center allowed Helmes, Chloe Morgan and Dickins to score. At the end of the second inning the score was 14-0 in favor of the Lady Tigers.
Maci Kirkland relieved senior pitcher Dickins in the third inning as she struck out the first three batters for the Lady Falcons. Darbi Smith hit a line drive past third and scored on a bunt by Meyers to run-rule the Lady Falcons and end the game.
 Haley Reid led at the plate, going 2-for-3, with one run and five RBIs (runs batted in). Mallory Myers was another big hitter, going 2-for-4, with one run and four RBs. 
Other hitters include Sydney Morgan, 1-for-3, one double, one run, three RBIs; Chloe Morgan, 0-for-4, three walks, three runs; Dickins, 0-for-3, three walks, two runs; Cummins, 0-for-3, three walks, one run; Parker, 0-for-2, one walk, one run; Smith, 1-for-1, one run; Cotten, 0-for-3, three walks, two runs; Helmes, 0-for-1, one walk, one run; and Kirkland, 0-for-two, two walks, one run.

In their second game Thursday morning, Darbi Smith started on the mound for the Lady Tigers, striking out one. The other two outs were made at first. Lady Tigers catcher Sydney Morgan picked up a bunt and hurled it to first baseman Cummins for the second out. Second baseman Reid scooped up a ground ball and also threw to Cummins for the third out. 
In bottom of the first, Chloe Morgan walked, advanced to second and third on walks and stole home on a squeeze play.
Mallory Myers and Caroline Dickins were walked and scored on a double by Reid.
With the bases continually loaded, the Lady Tigers were able to put the game away fairly easily.
Cummins was hit by a pitch and Sydney Morgan walked to load the bases. Parker, Bethany Cotten and Smith’s walk drove in Reid, Cummins and Sydney Morgan.
Chloe Morgan’s sac-fly drove in Parker and a Myeyers’ double to left field drove home Smith and Sydney Morgan. Dickins’s single allowed Myers to scored the final run of the first inning for a 10-0 lead.
In the second inning, the Lady Tigers allowed a runner on base with a single to left field, but held her at first as Smith struck out the next three batters.
Sydney Morgan and Cotten walked and Smith was hit by a pitch. Chloe Morgan grounded out to second, driving home Sydney Morgan. 
In the third, Maci Kirkland relieved Smith and pitched the last inning getting all three outs of the inning one a throw to Cummins and two strikeouts.
More walks helped the Lady Tigers to end this game. Reid, Cummins, Sydney Morgan and Parker walked with Parker’s walk driving Reid home. Cotten and Smith got on base after being hit by pitches, which drove in Cummins and Sydney Morgan.
Parker scored on Chloe Morgan’s single for the final run of the game.
Chloe Morgan led at the plate, going 2-for-4, with one walk, two runs and two RBIs.
Other batters include Meyers, 1-for-3, two walks, two runs, two RBIs; Dickins, 0-for-2, one walk, one run; Reid, 1-for-2, one walk, two runs, two RBIs; Taylor Utz, 1-for-1, double; Ali Cummins, 0-for-3, one walk, one hit by pitch, two runs; Sydney Morgan, 0-for-3, three walks, three runs; Parker, 0-for-3, two walks, two runs; Cotten, 0-for-3, two walks, one hit by pitch, three runs; and Smith, 0-for-3, one walk, two hits by pitch, one run.
