Incident reports from Batesville Police Department reveal a weekend of vandalism,  thievery, or attempts thereof.

An attempt of strong-arm robbery at Westridge Apartments was thwarted when a woman delivered a kick to the stomach of the assailant who then fell down a flight of stairs, according to Lieutenant Ruby Myers’ report of Friday, November 13.

The victim described the assailant as a dark complected black male wearing a black zipped-up hood and black pants.

“She stated the male told her that he was going to say it one time, to give him her purse,”  Myers’ report stated.

“She took her four-year-old son and put him behind her and started banging on her neighbor’s door,” Myers’ report continued.

The assailant reached for her purse and she saw something silver in his right hand and “she believed it was a weapon.”

That’s when the assailant got the kick to the stomach and was denied access to the woman’s purse.

A home owner on Claude Street showed Patrolman Justin Davis where windows in front and back of the residence had been broken and also a window in a car.

According to Davis’ report, the homeowner and a woman had gotten into an argument while the homeowner was keeping four children and the woman had been locked out of the residence.
The report stated the alleged window breaker, “admitted to Lt. Myers she had knocked a window out.

Another vehicle window was broken out and reported on Saturday according to Patrolman J.P. Wallace’s report that stated that the resident went to his truck to go hunting and noticed some of his gear missing from where he thought he left them the night before.

He then noticed air coming in and discovered the back passenger side glass missing.

“He returned home and found the glass on the ground and the missing items from his truck as well,” according to the report that stated the victim had yet to find anything missing.

Patrolman Will Farrish’s report of Saturday, November 14 revealed that a resident of Dabney Street had discovered a Poulan chain saw missing from the bed of his pickup. He thought the saw was taken between the hours of 9 p.m. Friday until the next morning.

Another report from Patrolman Wallace on November 14 indicated an act of vandalism again at Lester Street where a resident reported a “. . . windshield had been busted.”

The victim revealed to police that she believes she knows who is responsible.

A report dated Sunday, November 15 and filed by Patrolman Parrish stated a Rollins Drive resident reported two vehicles being burglarized.

“She (victim) noticed that her car had also been gone through—found her wallets removed from her center console and laid in the passengers seat.

The report also said, (she) stated that her car was unlocked with keys in the ignition.

Approximately $21 in cash, and a debit card was missing.
