STARKVILLE – Mississippi State closed out its 2015 home slate with a lopsided victory before construction begins on the Bulldogs’ new facility that will be ready for the 2016 season.
 MSU downed Memphis 11-3 in five innings before a crowd of 742 at the MSU Softball Field on Wednesday night.

 The Bulldogs improved to 32-16 on the season, snapping a five-game losing skid, while the Tigers fell to 14-30 and have now lost 10-straight games. MSU also improved to 23-4 in non-conference play this season.

 Sophomore Amanda Ivy led the State offense as she went 2-for-2 with four RBIs on a double and triple. Ivy also scored twice on the night.

With the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the second, Ivy delivered with a two-run single through the left side to break the scoreless draw and put MSU ahead 2-0.

Sophomore Mackenzie Toler added to the lead in the third with a double to right center that made it 3-0 after sophomore Katie Anne Bailey came across.

 The Tigers closed the gap in the fourth with a two-run home run off the scoreboard that brought the score to 3-2.
 
In the home half of the fourth, the Bulldog bats came alive and blew the game wide open as a five-run inning capped by a three-run double from sophomore Caroline Seitz pushed State’s advantage to 8-2.

 A single with runners on for Memphis in the fifth brought a Tiger runner across and made it an 8-3 game.

Ivy delivered another two-run knock, this time in the fifth as a triple to right center made it a 10-3 lead for MSU. Still in the fifth, freshman Calyn Adams delivered a big hit to drive home Ivy and clinch the 11-3 victory in five innings.

 Freshman Cassady Knudsen (2-0) got the start and the win for MSU as she went 5.0 innings in the circle and allowed three runs on six hits. It was Knudsen’s first-career complete game outing. Jordan Richwood (7-17) suffered the loss for the Tigers as she surrendered six runs on four hits in 4.0 innings of work.

The Bulldogs will spend this weekend away from Southeastern Conference play in Statesboro, Ga. for two games in two days against Georgia Southern. The first game is set for Saturday, April 25 at 3 p.m. CT. Game two is scheduled for Sunday at noon CT.
