BATESVILLE – Lee Ann Cannon, 62, died Wednesday, October 24, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi.

Services were held Sunday at New Bethlehem M.B. Church. Jeffery McMullen officiated. Burial was in New Bethlehem Cemetery. Cooley’s Mortuary had charge.

Cannon, born Jan. 19, 1950, to D.A. Baker and Reola Greenlaw, was a cosmetologist. She was a member of New Bethlehem M.B. Church where she was a vacation Bible school director, Sunday school teacher and member of the Mission Society and the choir. She was a substitute teacher for South Panola and North Panola Schools. She was a supervisor for Springs Industries.

Survivors include: her husband, John Cannon of Batesville; two daughters, Coretta Miller of Courtland and Jamie Cannon of Memphis; four sisters, Bertha J. Cauthen and Christine Pride, both of Batesville, Bertha Ree Chatman of Decauter, Ga. and Dorothy Thomas of Lynn, Mass.; two brothers, David Lee Baker of Courtland and Barry Gates of Oklahoma and one grandchild.

BATESVILLE – Edna Jean Childs, 68, died Thursday, October 25, 2012.

Services will be held Wednesday at noon at Macedonia M.B. Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Eddie Robinson Funeral Home has charge.

Childs was born Aug. 2, 1944.

Survivors include: her husband, Eddie Lee “Sonny” Childs; three step-children, Casey Childs, Eddie Lee Childs Jr. and Derrick Childs; 28 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

LAMBERT- Quitman Elliott “Boo” Harrison, 74, died Friday afternoon, October 26, 2012, in his home.

Services were held Monday at Wells Funeral Home. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Harrison, was born October 18, 1938 in Marks, to the late Wiley and Gladys Elliott Harrison. He retired from farming after 50 years.

Survivors include: his wife of 43 years, Ginger Cobb Harrison of Lambert; two daughters, Daphne Harrison Terral of Monroe, La., Kim Harrison Cloe of West Monroe, La.; three sons, Christian Harrison of Taylor, Wiley Bryant Harrison of Saltillo, Quitman Elliott Harrison Jr. “Deuce” of Bay St. Louis; four grandchildren; two sisters, Frankie Aldison McCrary of Senatobia, Nancy Whitworth Thornton of Oxford; brother, Bill Harrison of Oakland.

Audrey Mae Nelson Melton, age 87, widow of the late Billy Melton, died Sunday afternoon at her home near Batesville.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, in Wells Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Melton and Rev. Dale Beaver officiating. Burial will follow in Brazil Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home.

Melton, was born in Hinchcliff, on June 6, 1925, to James and Katherine Mooney Norris. She was a homemaker and member of Immanuel Baptist Church.

Survivors include: her daughters, Sue Irish of Houston, Texas, Ann Schiele of Lambert, Jeannie Patton of Batesville and Emma Melton of Crowder, two sons, Bobby Melton of Houston, Texas and Roy Melton of Crowder, 18 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Faye Melton, 3 sons, Stanley Melton, Clyde Melton and Claude Melton.

BATESVILLE- Bobby Gene Norwood died Sunday, October 28, 2012, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.

Services will be held today at 1 p.m. at Dickins Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in Forrest Memorial Park. Full obituary information will be in Friday’s edition of The Panolian.

EUPORA – James Creyer Pogue, 85, died October 28, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Eupora. He was the father of South Panola High School football coach Lance Pogue. Services will be held Wednesday at Tomnolen Baptist Church in Tomnolen at 2 p.m. Visitation will be held Tuesday night from 5-8 at Oliver Funeral Home in Eupora and at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Graveside services will follow at Greensboro Cemetery in Webster County.

Born May 15, 1927, in Mathison, to the late Robert Lee and Irma O’Neal Pogue, he served in the U.S. Army. He worked in Aiken, S.C. at the Savannah River Plant as a supervisor.

Survivors in addition to his son  include: his wife of 57 years, Carolyn Carter Pogue; one daughter, Patti Pogue Swindle of Eupora; two sons, Bobby Pogue and Matt Pogue, both of Eupora; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

CROWDER – Bilbo Stroup, 88, died Saturday, October 27, 2012, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.

Services were held Monday at Kimbro Funera Home. Burial was in Crowder Cemetery. Rev. Truman Scarborough and Rev. Jess Chadwick officiated. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge.

Stroup, born Feb. 9, 1924, in Pittsboro, was a member of Blue Lake Baptist Church. He was retired from the Crowder School System. Survivors include: his wife, Mona Mitchell Stroup; daughters Cheryl Stroup of Crowder, Kathy Bailey of Courtland, Wanda Faust of Tupelo and Sandra Cook of  Senatobia; sons Cecil Stroup of Walnut and David Stroup of Pope; sisters Rubena Crawley of Sardis, Hilda Austin of Lambert; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
