William Travis Hance

 BATESVILLE – William Travis Hance, 73, died Monday, September 10, 2012, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 14, at 1 p.m. at First Faith Baptist Church in Batesville. Burial will be in Forrest Memorial Park. Rev. Terry Floyd will officiate. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

    Mr. Hance was born in Memphis on April 16, 1939 to Elco and Earnestine Hance. He has lived in the community since 1972 and worked, as a water operator for Sardis Lake Community Water Association. Mr. Hance was a member of First Faith Baptist Church in Batesville.

    Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Katherine E. Brower; a son, David M. Hance; and his first wife, Phyllis Keith Hance.

    Survivors include his wife, Sena Mae Hance of Batesville; one daughter, Deborah S. Hollowell of Batesville; his step-daughter, Rena Harman of Olathe, Kansas; two step-sons, Butch Clair of Batesville and Sean Clair of Cabot, Ark.; four brothers, Edwin Hance of Heber Springs, Ark., Wayne Hance, Richard Hance and James Hance, all of Millington, Tenn.; two sisters, Virginia Hance Martin of Batesville and Doris Hance Howse of Bogue Chitto; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Mattie Orr

     MEMPHIS – Mattie Orr, formerly of Enid, died Saturday, September 8, 2012, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis. She was 82.

    Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Popular Springs M.B. Church in Enid. Burial will be in Popular Springs M.B. Church Cemetery. Pastor James Snarley will officiate. Visitation will be held Friday from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Cooley’s Mortuary Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

    Ms. Orr was born June 19, 1930, to Mack Orr and Mahalia Johnson Orr in Enid.  She was a retired laborer for EverWare in Chicago and a member of Morning Star M.B. Church in Memphis.

    Survivors include her daughter, Lueontine Orr Smith of Memphis; one son, Roger L. Orr of Gary, Ind.; two sisters, Albertine Scurlock of Chicago, Ill. and Thelma Brooks of Memphis; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
