CORINTH – Glen Mike Jenkins,  82, widower of Barbara Patton Jenkins, died Sunday morning, August 12, 2012, at Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth.

The family will hold a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 26, 2012, at Locke Station Baptist Church, 19 Bill Locke Rd, Batesville with Reverend Rusty Miller officiating.

Jenkins was born on Feb. 14, 1930 in Sumner, to John Wiley and Stevie York Jenkins. He was a commercial builder who worked building hospitals, schools and hotels. Later in life Mr. Jenkins was a truck driver who leased out trucks to many companies, including W.S. Thomas Trucking Company. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include: his daughter, T.J. Grissom of Ashland; 3 Sons, Darrell Glen Jenkins and Carl Wesley Jenkins both of Batesville, and Mike Kevin Jenkins of Olive Branch, one sister, Macel Jenkins Clarke of Winston-Salem, N.C., 9 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

REEDSPORT, Ore. — Russell W. Lewis, 56, formerly of Batesville, died August 17, 2012 at home in Reedsport, Ore.

Memorial services will be held Thursday, August 23, at 4 p.m. at the Dunes Memorial Chapel in Reedsport.

Born in Manilla, AR to Jack and Irene Lewis on December 6, 1955, he was raised in Blytheville, AR. His mother, Irene greatly influenced his medical career, steering him in that direction early on. He received an AD in Nursing from Arkansas State University in 1977, moving on to Jackson, where he received a BS in Anesthesiology.

Russell and his wife Laura moved to Batesville,  in 1984 where he took over the Department of Anesthesia, practicing as a solo CRNA. He stayed until 1992 while Laura was in anesthesia school.

While in Batesville he started his own business of Steamway Carpet Cleaning covering a 100 mile radius.  He also trained as a neon tube bender, he loved it as an art form.

After leaving Batesville Russ and Laura traveled all over the country for 15 years providing anesthesia coverage. Having traveled to Oregon many times, they always wanted to retire there but it was an anesthesia assignment that took them to Reedsport.  He was the Department Head of Anesthesia almost 6 years before his death.

He was preceded in death by his mother Thelma Irene Lewis, father Jack Leon Lewis, step-father Harold T. Lewis, and brother Sammy W. Lewis.

Survivors include: his wife of 36 years, Laura Hard Lewis and brother James R. Lewis.

LAMBERT – Retired Master Sgt. Albert E. “Gene” Schiele, age 67, husband of Carol Schiele, of Lambert, Miss., passed away Saturday evening August 18, 2012.

Funeral services were held Thursday at Wells Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Calvin “Skippy” King and Reverend Charles Melton officiating.  Burial was in Crowder Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Gene was born May 30, 1945 in Grenada,  to the late John Ed and Christine Moore Schiele. Upon receiving his high school diploma, Gene enlisted in the U.S. Army and retired after 20 years of honorable service to his country. After retiring from the Army, he and his wife of 42 years, Carol Ann, moved to Lambert.

Other than his wife, Carol Ann Melton Schiele, he is survived by two daughters, Misti and Chelsey Schiele of Lambert; two sons, Victor Schiele of Fayetteville, N.C., Chris Schiele of Corinth, Texas; five brothers, William Schiele of Onalaska, Texas, Thomas “Chick” Schiele of Ruidoso, New Mexico, Stanley “Tootie” Schiele and Randy Schiele of Lake Charles, La., Charles “Beatle” Schiele of Cashier, N.C.; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

SLEDGE – Frank Raynor Starr Jr., 72, died Saturday, August 18, 2012, at his residence.

Graveside services were held Monday, August 20, at Marks Cemetery. Bro. Rickey Haynes officiated.  Kimbro Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Starr was born May 7, 1939 in Memphis. He graduated from Sledge High School. He graduated from college at Ms. State University in 1962. Mr. Starr was member of Sledge United Methodist Church.   He loved hunting, fishing and riding in his youth, was an amateur archaeologist and an avid reader of history and fiction. He was a retired farmer and former Region One Metal Health and Counselor.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Marilyn Canon Starr; one son, James William “Bill” Starr of Senatobia; two daughters, Mary Evelyn Starr of Sledge and Joanna Starr of Flagstaff, Ariz. and three grandchildren.

The family requests memorials be made to Crenshaw Public Library, Camellia Home Health and Hospice, Tupelo, or the charity of the donor’s choice.

BATESVILLE – William E. “W.E.” Wigley, Jr., 85, died Monday, August 20, 2012, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.

Services were held Wednesday, August 22, at Wells Funeral Home Chapel.  Dr. Gary Berry and Rev. Roger Richards officiated. Burial was in Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Wigley was born February 15, 1927, to Lucille Reynolds and William Edward Wigley, Sr. in Coxburg. He worked over 25 years as a supervisor and foreman for both Panola, Inc. and Batesville American. “W.E.” served his country in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. Mr. Wigley was a member of Pope Baptist Church. He also served as a Mason and was a member of the Lions Club and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include his spouse, Margaret Tidwell Wigley of Batesville; two daughters, Betty Killebrew of Vicksburg and Debre Darby of Courtland; one son, William Edward “Bill” Wigley III of Batesville; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
