Local disc jockeys at WBLE Country 101 got “blown” away while taping an interview with recording legend Ace Cannon, earlier this week, when Cannon recalled gigs at both the Pine Lodge and The Plantation. The interview will be aired Saturday morning on the Local Yokel show to promote the September 19 Rockin’Country Jam at Batesville Civic Center featuring Cannon, Nash Street and the R.T. Scott Band. Nash Street, a Starkville-based band, bridges the gap between country music and traditional bluegrass.

R. T. Scott Band recently signed a publisher deal  with a new album scheduled for release any day. His influence reached such stars as Hank Jr., Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, David Allen Coe, Ronnie Van Zant and others according to his promotion material.

Local promoters Eddie and Lynn Ray are attempting to fill up the Civic Center by offering a variety of entertainment.

“The party is on so don’t miss the rockin’ night of country and bluegrass,” Eddie Ray said.

Lynn noted that advanced tickets would be discounted and VIP floor/table seating is available but limited for the  September 19 event. Tickets are available online or by calling 662.563.1392.

The promoters are scheduled to appear on WTVA early Saturday morning with host Kay Bain, and Local Yokel radio personalities Ricky Swindle and Big Un’ Johnny Pace will air interviews with the entertainers on their radio show on Country FM 100.5, also on Saturday morning.
