Original Sports Programming Celebrates Rich Tradition of Some Of the Oldest, Biggest Gridiron Rivalries in the South


RIDGELAND, MS. (August 28, 2009) Cellular South, a leader in wireless solutions and innovation, today announced the television broadcast schedule for five of the South’s biggest high school football rivalries to be featured as part of the company’s  “Y’all vs. Us” integrated sports programming and customer engagement initiative this fall.
 
The program, which begins next month, will feature live, professional-caliber prime-time television broadcasts of the five biggest rivalry games on NBC, ABC and Fox television affiliates in Mississippi and Tennessee and will be produced by Moxie Pictures, an award-winning New York City-based documentary film company.  Executive producer of the overall “Y’all vs. Us” program is Young & Rubicam, Cellular South’s New York City-based advertising agency.
 
Below is the broadcast schedule with dates, air times, station and channel details for the games, which all begin with a 7 p.m. pre-game show followed by a 7:30 p.m. kickoff and a post-game show at the conclusion of each contest:

Cellular South customers and high school football fans should check local listings to confirm station channel details, which may vary depending on whether they receive traditional, satellite or cable television service.
 
To bring the action to high school football fans across the region, games will be aired on a combination of primary and secondary digital channels of NBC affiliates WLBT in Jackson, WDAM in Hattiesburg and WMC in Memphis along with ABC affiliates WLOX in Biloxi, WABG in Greenwood and WTOK in Meridian.  Fox affiliate WLOV in Tupelo rounds out the broadcasting team for the rivalry games.  Regional television broadcasts of the live games will be managed through Raycom Media Inc., a Montgomery, Alabama-based media firm that owns or operates 42 television stations in 18 states.
 
Other broadcast elements of the program include a 10-episode television reality series following two rival high school football coaching staffs throughout the 2009 season and a five-episode documentary series featuring game highlights and the story behind each featured rivalry game.  The schedule for the coaches’ “Head-to-Head” reality series and the documentary series will be announced separately.
