In Como Municipal Court, Wednesday, Sept. 4, Como Officer Marieo Presley said he and another officer had a car stopped when Tyesha Cox came by in her car and revved her pipes. The police car had its lights flashing. She was charged with careless driving and no insurance.

Cox was represented by Victoria Ryals and decided not to testify for herself. She was found guilty by Judge Gaines Baker and assessed $646 in total fines and a 10 day jail suspended jail sentence. Baker advised her to slow down next time she passes by a police car with lights on.

Christopher Caleb Derryberry, 2463 Oak Creek Dr., Hernando, pled guilty to careless driving and was fined $253. He pleaded not guilty to driving while license suspended and the charge was dropped after his license came back in good standing.

Jerry McBrayer pled guilty to shoplifting and was fined $374.25 and 10 days suspended jail sentence.

Troy Blauvelt, 104 Section Line Rd., Como, paid his $27 fine for no seat belt prior to court.

Belverto Hearndon, 517 Austin Rd., Senatobia, paid his $203 fine for reckless driving prior to court.

Leon Carl Taylor, 754 Abe Chapel Rd., Como, paid his $27 fine for no seat belt prior to court.

Calvin Robertson, 424 Fredrick St., Sardis, paid his careless driving fine of $253 prior to court.

Preston Kyle Dean’s, 146 Pops Lane, Monticello, case for disregard for a traffic device was remanded to the file.

Brandi E. Garrison, 92 CR 521, Como, had her improper equipment-headlight out charge remanded to the file after she had it fixed the next day.

Grand Jury

Talisha Shantae Lloyd, 434 Taylor St., Como, was charged with felony fleeing, disturbing the peace and simple assault and was bound over to the grand jury. Municipal Court does not hear felony cases, according to Baker.

Shana Lee Moore, 4784 Austin Rd., Nesbit, was charged with grand larceny of an automobile and was bound over to the grand jury.

Set for Trial

Curtis Arnold was charged with two counts of malicious mischief, domestic violence and trespassing. His case will be heard Oct. 2.

Donald Wood Chancellor, 103 Craig St., Como, was charged with improper parking. His case is set for trial Oct. 2.

Jack C. Donaldson, 3902 Simon Chapel Rd., Como, pled not guilty to expired tag. He said he had just bought the car from a family friend four days before but did not have a bill of sale to back his claim. He bought in a tag he had purchased. His case is set for trial Oct. 2.

Latonya M. Eason, 879 Burton Rd., Senatobia, pled not guilty to after the fact and has a court date of Oct. 2.

Carla Echols, 3457 Hammon Hill Rd., Como, pled not guilty to disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace and resisting arrest. Her case will be held Oct. 2.

Lamarcus T. Heffner, 219 Warren St., Como, will return for trial Nov. 6 to answer to charges of two counts of domestic violence and disturbing the peace. The affiant, Ms. Presley, told the judge she filed false charges against him. Presley was told she could pay the $100 court cost to dismiss the charges.

A’naya D. Hollins, 117 N. Roberson Apt. A, Senatobia, pled not guilty to second offense shoplifting. The case will be heard Oct. 2.

Eric Nunley pled not guilty to charges of no insurance, no drivers license, contempt of court-failure to comply and resisting arrest. His case will be heard Oct. 2.

Coretta D. Shaw, 504 B Long St., LN, Senatobia, pled not guilty to running a stop sign and following too closely. The case will be heard Oct. 2.
