Renfroe will enter 2008-09 year as a senior. He has been traveling mostly every week playing baseball, according to his mother Kim Renfroe. He has spent the last three weeks in Atlanta and will be home for a couple of days this weekend. Tuesday, he leaves for Cincinnati.

Renfroe’s father, Laddie of Olive Branch, is a former Cub. His career ended when he was injured. The elder Renfroe pitched at Wrigley field and now his son will do the same.

Renfroe was one of 36 players chosen for this honor to play out of 450,000 high school sophomores and juniors. According to a letter inviting him to play, his ability will be showcased on a national stage “in front of the leaders in the sport!” He will play before some of the most influential scouts and college coaches in the nation.

The game is dubbed “the experience of a lifetime.”

Each player will be outfitted in an official Under Armour All-American Baseball game uniform.

According to the letter, 10 players have been selected in the first round of the Major League draft from the past two years.

The players will fly into Chicago on Friday, August 15 and tour the city on Saturday, after a morning workout. On Sunday, the players will have the use of the Cubs’ clubhouse.

Renfroe was selected player-of-the-year in 2-5A this past season in baseball. In football, he was Honorable Mention for All-District.
