Richard M. Allen

SARDIS – Richard M. Allen, 75, died Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2018, at his residence.

Funeral service was held Sunday, Sept. 2, at Mt. Zion M. B. Church in Sardis. Interment followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Sardis. Henderson Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Allen was born April 4, 1943, in Memphis to the late Ernest Allen and Theresa Jackson Bryant.

Susan Pattridge Berryhill

DUNLIN, Ireland – Susan Pattridge Berryhill, 69, passed away peacefully at her home Wednesday August 29, 2018.

She was born in Denver, Col. on August 27, 1949. She married Lamar Berryhill in Batesville, on January 2, 1979. She received both undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Mississippi and two graduate degrees from Delta State University.

She was an educator and administrator for 43 years, including time spent at St. George’s Episcopal Day School, Clarksdale Municipal School District, South Panola School District and Delta State University.

She was active in many charitable and civic organizations including First United Methodist Church, Juke Joint Festival, Coahoma County Retired Teachers Association and Delta Kappa Gamma, where she won the DKG Woman of Distinction Award for 2014-2015.

She was most passionate about spending time with her grandchildren and also enjoyed traveling and promoting literacy.

She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Lamar of Dublin; daughter, Angie Woodruff (Luke) of Denver; three sons, Corey Pratt of Batesville, Paul Berryhill (Lisa) of Memphis and Andrew Berryhill (Megan) of Cleveland; 10 grandchildren, Paige, Kelsey, Austin, Mackenzie, Molly, Abigail (Angie); Logan (Corey); Vera and Ellie (Paul); John Davis (Andrew); siblings, Catherine Cole, Peter Pattridge, David Pattridge and Mary Nell Pattridge.

She was preceded in death by her father, Dr. Paul D. Pattridge, mother, Emily Metzger Pattridge Allen and brother, Daniel Pattridge.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at First United Methodist Church of Clarksdale, with Rev. Neville Vanderburg officiating.

Visitation will be held in the Fellowship Hall at First United Methodist Church of Clarksdale beginning at 9:30 a.m. Private family burial to take place at Pattridge Family Cemetery at Barnacre.

Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home of Clarksdale is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Clarksdale Care Station or CARES – Clarksdale Animal Rescue Effort and Shelter.

Janice Lee Wiese

SARDIS – Mrs. Janice Lee Wiese, 83, of Sardis, passed away on Monday, August 27, 2018, at Oxford Health and Rehab.

Mrs. Wiese was born on March 21, 1935 in Warren, Ark. to the Late Luella Baker Via and Alva E. Via.

In her early years, Mrs. Jan was active serving as a volunteer in many different organizations. She loved to sing and did so beautifully. She was a strong Christian woman who was a member of Sardis Church of Christ and loved her family dearly, second only to her Lord and Savior.

She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.

Mrs. Wiese leaves behind her loving family which includes her daughters, Allena Wiese of Sardis and Tammy Robertson (Neal) of Lebanon, Tenn.; and one grandson, Ethan Robertson.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Allen Wiese; her parents; and her grandson, Whit Robertson.

Funeral services were held Friday, August 31, at the Sardis Church of Christ with Bro. Hal Johnson and Bro. Neal Robertson officiating.

Bro. Robert Rawson led the singing. Interment followed in Forrest Memorial Cemetery near Batesville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sardis Church of Christ in Mrs. Wiese’s name. Ray-Nowell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
