Martha Mills Deal

Martha Susan Mills Deal, 91, died Wednesday, May 30, 2018.

Martha was born in Malden, Mo. February 16, 1927 to the late William Everett and Mamie (Berry) Mills. She was a homemaker and a member of First Presbyterian Church in Shreveport.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Dickins Funeral Home in Batesville, with a graveside service following at Antioch Cemetery, Courtland.

Mavis Rodgers Marquis

Mavis Avenelle Rodgers Marquis, 89, of Walls, formerly of Batesville, died Friday, June 1, 2018, at her residence.

The funeral service will be at Wells Funeral Home Thursday, June 7, at 12 p.m. with Rev. Ed Temple of the First United Methodist Church officiating with interment to follow in Forrest Memorial Parke.

The family will receive friends at Wells Funeral Home Wednesday evening, June 6, from 5 to 8 p.m. and also one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

Mavis was born in Mississippi on May 2, 1929, to the late George and Estelle (Griffin) Rodgers. She had retired from Johnson and Johnson.

Mary Poe Morrow

Mary Elizabeth Poe Morrow, 88, of Batesville, died Friday June 1, 2018 at NW MS Regional Medical Center in Clarksdale.

Funeral services were held Sunday, June 3, at Locke Station Baptist Church. Interment followed at Forrest Memorial Park. Rev. Rusty Miller officiated. Wells Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Mary was born May 15, 1930 to the late Charlie Hick Poe and Rebecca Elizabeth Wilmoth Poe in Blue Springs.

She was a homemaker and a member of Locke Station Baptist Church.

Viola Angle Vaughn

Viola Ladell Angle Vaughn, 87, of Senatobia, died Tuesday, May 29, 2018, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – DeSoto in Southaven.

Mrs. Vaughn was born on November 27, 1930 in Darling to the late Quill and Lela Angle. She was a member of Crenshaw Church of God and a member of the Eastern Star in Arkabutla.

She worked for the William Carter Company in Senatobia in her early years and always worked the polls on election day.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 2, 2018, in the Senatobia Chapel of Ray-Nowell Funeral Home with Bro. Hal Johnson officiating. Interment followed in Longtown Cemetery near Crenshaw.

Jerry Willard

Jerry “Goose” Willard, 64, of Sardis, passed away June 2, 2018 at Panola Medical Center.

He is survived by his daughter, Amy Willard of Senatobia, MS; sister, Barbara Willard Red (Ramas) of Sarah, MS; grandchildren, Laiken Willard (Dylan Gunn) and Harper Uiberall; great-grandchildren, Axel Gunn and Jaxston Gunn and sister in law, Betty Willard of Southaven, MS. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymos and Flossie Willard and his brother, Russ Willard.

A memorial service will be held June 7, 2018 at 6 p.m. in the Chapel of Pate-Jones Funeral Home.
