The Batesville Christmas Parade will begin at 6:30 tonight, with 77 entrants, plus the South Panola High School Band, Scouts of Troop 478, and, leading it off, the South Panola High School Air Force JROTC cadets.
There will be 40 floats, according to Mark Shields, coordinator of the parade, who noted that the floats will be judged during the line-up period from 6 to 6:30 tonight. Awards will be presented before the parade, with recognition to be awarded to the top ten entries, and first and second place trophies presented.
The participants will line up along Watt and Park Streets, and at 6:30 the parade will begin, moving toward the square along Broadway. The route will turn right to cross the railroad just past the courthouse, and continue around the lower side of the square, turning back toward the railroad and continuing up Eureka Street to disband at the bank.
In case of rain, the parade will be rescheduled.
