Costumed kids got a jump on Halloween when Batesville Main Street hosted the annual Scare on the Square Saturday morning. Local civic clubs and businesses passed out treats. See page A2 for winners of the costume contest. The fun continues tonight when youngsters are invited to the South Panola High School parking lot 5:30-7:15, when athletes and clubs will be dispensing treats. Trick-or-treaters must wind things up by a 9 p.m. curfew in Batesville, Sardis and Como.
