The Spirit of Cheer Booster Club will host a rummage sale on Saturday, June 3 at the Batesville Jr High gym.The sale will begin at 7 a.m Admission is free.
There will be an "Early Bird Special" for those who want to shop early. The admission price for the special will be $5 per person. The "Early Bird Special" will begin at 5a.m.
The booster club is currently accepting donations of goods to be used for the sale. Anyone who would like to donate items may bring those items to the Batesville Jr. High gym on Mondays between 5:30-8 p.m. or on Thursdays between 5:30-8:00 p.m.

Deshea Townsend, of the Super Bowl Champion Pittsburgh Steelers, has announced the dates for his sixth annual Pay it Forward Football Camp.
The camp will be held Saturday, May 20, on the South Panola Tiger football field.
Townsend, along with some other Steelers, will conduct the camp for children ages 6 to 18.
There is no fee to participate in the camp, but preregistration is required. Registration forms must be turned in by Friday, May 12.
Forms may be picked up and returned to The Panolian, 363 Highway 51 N., Batesville or the Boys and Girls Club, 630 Highway 51 S., Batesville.
Registration forms have to be signed by a parents or guardian or the children will not be allowed to participate.
The camp will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

| SP tennis team qualifies for state |

For the first time in recent history, the entire South Panola tennis team qualified to go to state competition.
Thursday, the team met Horn Lake, Southaven and Olive Branch to vie for the chance to go to state and also for the chance to win the district.
Olive Branch won the district because they won more matches, but South Panola was the only team to have all the members qualify for state.
The team members will travel to Jackson May 8 and 9 for state competition.
To qualify for state, the team members had to win their first match in the district, which all of them did. But a downside, according to head coach Kim Wilson, was they all lost their second matches in district play.
Last year only one player made it to state, Grant Goforth, and he won his first match to Horn Lake
6-1, 6-2, but lost his second match in split sets to Olive Branch 2-6, 7-5, 3-6.
In girls singles, seventh grader Ashley Roberson won her first match against Olive Branch in split sets 1-6, 6-4, 6-3.
"For a seventh grader to come back after losing the first set 1-6 and win the match is pretty awesome," Wilson said.
In girls doubles, Alyssa Boren and Jordan Williams played two matches of three sets. The first set they won against Olive Branch 4-6, 6-2, 6-4, but lost the second to Southaven 2-6, 6-4, 3-6.
Jonathan Ware and Daniel Waller won in boys doubles 6-3, 6-3 against Horn Lake.
Marlee Goforth, younger sister of Grant Goforth, and Blake Goodwin won in mixed doubles 6-1, 6-4 against Southaven.

| A rematch from the Friday night, April 14, "Brawl to Finish It All" has been scheduled for Saturday, May 6, a spokesman for All Pro Productions announced Thursday.
The match will be held at Unclaimed Furniture on Highway 6 East in Batesville.
The April 14 match pitted "Too Sexy" Brian Christopher against Luscious Kenny Valiant and left Valiant at the end of the bout handcuffed and with a new, unwanted haircut.

| Tiger track team heads to North Half |
| Members of the South Panola track team continue to advance closer and closer to state competition.
On last Saturday, some team members traveled to Columbus for the regional meet and qualified for North Half in Tupelo this Saturday, April 29.
The boys placed fifth out of eight teams and the girls placed sixth out of eight teams.
Rodney Gray continues his march to repeat as state hurdlers champion. He has the fastest times on the 110 and 300 meter hurdles.
Saturday, he placed first in both events. In the 110 meter hurdles, he recorded a time of 14.1 seconds and in the 300 meter hurdles, he ran it in 38.6 seconds.
Chris Strong placed first in the shot put with a distance of 50’2".
Justin Harris placed third in the shot put with a distance of 47’4".
The 4×100 meter relay team placed fourth with a time of 43.55 seconds. Team members include Leroy Diggs, Jeramie Griffin, Demetrius Dunn and Rodney Gray.
Qualifying for the girls were Sad’e Wallace, who placed second in the shot put with a distance of 35’8", and Saraka Chapman who placed fourth in the 400 meter run with a time of 1:01 minute.

| Tiger baseball season ends |
| A promising postseason for the South Panola baseball team came to an abrupt halt Friday at Madison Central.
The Tiger teams played Olive Branch Thursday afternoon and lost 8-4 and then dropped to the losers bracket.
Olive Branch defeated Madison Central Thursday night 6-4.
Friday, South Panola lost its final game of the season in a 16-0 shutout to Madison Central.
The Tigers ended their season 14-13 overall, 3-6 district.
Madison Central came back Saturday and defeated Olive Branch in back-to-back games to advance to the quarterfinals. Madison Central won 9-2 and 2-1. |
