Incumbents unseated in Batesville

Batesville voters unseated two incumbent aldermen during Tuesday’s balloting.
In the Ward Two Democratic Primary Election, Bobby Walton outpolled incumbent Alderman Ted Stewart 98 to 81, according to the certified returns.
In the Ward Four Republican Primary Election challenger Dennis Land polled 175 votes to incumbent Eddie Nabors’ 135.
Stewart and Nabors were both elected in 2009.
The Republican primary also determined the race for Ward One Alderman. Incumbent Bill Dugger was the only Batesville elected official in a contested position who kept his seat, handily turning back challenger Brandon Crumpler 227 to 62.
Voters in the Republican primary also named Betty and Dave Billingsley to two open positions on the Republican Party Executive Committtee.
Electors in the Democratic primary named Willie King Jr., Albert Norwood, Anne F. Walker and David L. Walker to four open positions on the Democratic Party Executive Committee.
Batesville Mayor Jerry Autrey, Alderman-at-Large Teddy Morrow and Ward Three Alderman Stan Harrison were unchallenged for re-election and will take oath to begin new four-year terms along with Walton and Land in July.
