Hernando evens series in baseball with win over SP

South Panola took advantage of six Hernando error’s to earn a 3-2  district win last Tuesday night.
The roles were somewhat reversed in the two teams second meeting of the season as the Tigers committed five miscues as Hernando evened up the series with a 7-0 victory at home Friday night.
Hernando pitcher Will Ross kept the South Panola hitters at bay of the entire night by spinning a two-hitter while striking out eight and not walking a batter.
Tripp Still and Gehrig Griffin each singled to provided South Panola’s only hits. Blaine Ware took the pitching loss despite giving up two earned runs while fanning five and walking two in six innings of work.
Hernando (11-8; 4-1) plated single runs in the first, third, fourth and fifth innings before blowing the game open with three runs unearned in the sixth.
South Panola’s only scoring threat came in the fifth as they put runners on first and second with two outs but could not get the key hit as a ground ball ended the inning.

A four-run first inning propelled  South Panola to the victory as Wes Morgan recorded the pitching win while helping hit own cause at the plate with two singles and a run scored.
Dawson Griffin and Gage Heath chipped in with two singles each while  Caleb White contributed also with  run-scoring single. Brandon Phelps registered a double and Anderson Wilder added a RBI. Keshaun Lantern scored a run in a pinch running role.
