Rodeo coming Sat.

Anticipating another sell-out crowd like last year, the 13th annual Bill Lipscomb Memorial Rodeo is scheduled this Saturday at 7 p.m. at Batesville Civic Center.
The annual rodeo honors the memory of Como businessman and rodeo competitor Bill Lipscomb who died in an automobile accident in 2002.
A fund in his memory awards a scholarship to a member of Northwest Community College’s rodeo team.
The event is sanctioned by the International Pro Rodeo Association and will include bareback bronc riding, calf roping, saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, team roping, cowgirls barrel racing, cowgirls break-away roping and bull riding.
An added event this year is miniature bull riding, with young riders participating on mini bulls.
Special activities for children will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will include a best dressed competition for cowboys and cowgirls age 7 and under. There will also be a “gold rush” and an egg toss.
For adult ladies, the evening will also include a “diamond dig,” with the prize donated by jeweler Dale Copeland.
Admission is $13 for adults, $11 for children ages 4-10, and those age 3 and under admitted free.
Reserve tickets are available online at tickets.batesvilleciviccenter-ms.com or by phone at 563-1392.
