Allen C. Anthony, 74, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2020, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford. He was the husband of Patsy Anthony.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, 2020, in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the family receiving friends Friday evening from 5-8 p.m. Following the service, the interment will be at Liberty Hill Cemetery in Pope.

Allen was born May 16, 1946, in Panola County to the late Wilbur Leon and Bertha Harris Anthony. He was an active member of Enid Lake Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School for many years.

Allen was a retired educator from South Panola Schools. Following his retirement from the school system, Allen worked as a courtroom deputy for the Panola County Sheriff’s Department.

He was a strong man of God with a humble servant’s heart. Allen enjoyed many things including camping, woodworking, and spending time on his land. His most important time spent was with his children and grandchildren playing games and modeling life lessons.

Allen’s memory will be cherished by his wife, Patsy Hill Anthony of Pope; two daughters, Brooke Anthony Savell (Shay) of Brandon, and Melanie Mitchell (Jason) of Saltillo; three sons, Allen C. Anthony, II (Tina) of Hernando, Gary Kyle Waters (Sandy) of Tupelo, and Mike Waters (TZ) of Tupelo; a sister, Bonnie Anthony Brown (David) of Lena, and 11 grandchildren.
