Arrests made in murder

By John Howell
Panola County authorities are still searching for a brown, four-door  Buick LeSabre bearing Panola County license PAT 210 that belonged to a man found dead in his home Thursday, December 15.
Panola County Sheriff’s Department Investigator Bryan Arnold said that Raynecka Howard, 1668 Woodruff Road, Batesville, age 27, has been charged in the death of her boyfriend, Edward Jerome Oliver, 1166 Lawrence Brothers Road, Batesville.
Arnold said that deputies went to the Lawrence Brothers Road address after Oliver’s brother reported him missing.
“Deputies found the body after his brother called concerned that no one had seen him since Tuesday,” Arnold said.
“When deputies arrived they were asked to check (the) residence at which time they found him lying in the living room floor,” Arnold’s report states.
Upon her arrival at the scene, Coroner Gracie Grant Gulledge discovered multiple stab wounds, according to the report.
The murder appeared to stem from an ongoing domestic dispute. The victim had been arrested for aggravated domestic violence and jailed Thursday, December 8, according to the Panola County jail log.
Arnold said that Howard was arrested and charged with murder Friday and remained in jail Monday.
“I am confident others were involved,” Arnold said.
Evidence is still being processed. The body was sent to Jackson for autopsy, he said. (Obituary information page A8.)
Anyone who has information about the location of the missing vehicle is urged to contact Arnold at the Panola County Sheriff’s Department, 662-563-6230.
