Board narrows administrator search

By Rupert Howell
Panola County Supervisor board president Cole Flint said Thursday that an official announcement should be made at the December 12 meeting naming the new county administrator.
Rumors have circulated that a decision has been made but Flint said although supervisors have narrowed 18 applicants to two, he wants to make sure during next Monday’s meeting in Sardis that all members are in agreement.
Flint did say that supervisors and current administrator Kelley Magee were overwhelmed at qualifications of applicants and noted that most of the 18 applicants were Panola Countians. The board president will send letters to all applicants thanking them for applying once his board is sure the decision is final he said.
Flint said his board plans to have final discussions, probably behind closed doors in executive session, during the December 5 meeting.
