Rebekah Jo Appleton

Rebekah Jo “Becky” Appleton, age 47, of Batesville, passed away August 23, 2016.
Funeral services for Becky will be held Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 6 p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home in Batesville. The family will receive friends beginning at 5 prior to the service.

Becky was born September 22, 1968 to Earl Walker and Barbara Jean Haskins in Mattoon, IL.
During her lifetime, Becky enjoyed yard work, bird watching, crossword puzzles, and playing with her grandchildren.

Jerry Lee Herron

Jerry Lee Herron, age 71, went to his heavenly home Tuesday morning, August 23, 2016.
A memorial service was held for Mr. Herron at Batesville Presbyterian Church Thursday, August 25.

Jerry was born October 1, 1944, to the late Warren Herron and Edith Carlisle Herron in Batesville, Jerry was a jack of all trades during his lifetime. He was a farmer and owned an 18 wheeler truck he hauled gas in. He worked for Panola County Co-op and ran his own dairy farm for some time.

He enjoyed raising his many animals on the farm including cattle, goats, donkeys, sheep and his sheepdog. Jerry is a member of Batesville Presbyterian Church.

Those left behind to cherish his precious memory include his wife, Patricia Rikard Herron of Batesville, 2 sons, Lee Herron (Teresa) and Jason Herron (Jenny) both of Batesville, one daughter, Lacey Herron Lenoir (Brad) of Guntersville Ala., his two brothers, Phillip Herron (Janet) and Hal Herron (Rita) both of Batesville, and eight grandchildren.

Cordaryl Jermaine Jones

SOUTHAVEN––Cordaryl Jermaine Jones, 25, died Thursday, August 18, 2016, in Memphis.
Services will be held Saturday at Brown Baptist Church in Southaven. Burial will be in Harmonia Cemetery in Sardis. Visitation will be held Friday 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. at Henderson Funeral Home.
Jones was born January 9, 1991, in Batesville, to Cedric Jones of Sardis and Andrea Jones of Southaven.

Tony Dewayne Jones Jr.

SOUTHAVEN––Tony Dewayne Jones Jr., 28, died Saturday, August 20, 2016, in Memphis.
Services will be held Saturday at Brown Baptist Church on Stateline in Southaven. Visitation will be held Friday 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. at Henderson Funeral Home in Sardis. Burial will be held in Harmonia Cemetery. Henderson Funeral Home has charge.

Jones was born May 19, 1988, in Batesville, to Tony Jones of Sardis and Debbie Wheatley Garrison of Southaven.

Jimmy Dale Patterson

Jimmy Dale Patterson, age 63, formerly of Lambert, passed away at his home near Pope, Monday, August 22, 2016.

Funeral services for Mr. Patterson were held Wednesday August 24 in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home in Batesville.  Interment was at Lambert Cemetery.
Jimmy was born January 19, 1953, to the late Billy Joe Patterson and Mary Jean Turman Patterson in Lambert.During his lifetime, Jimmy was a truck driver and member of Hosanna Family Worship Center in Pope.

In his spare time he enjoyed riding motorcycles.

Those left behind to cherish his loving memory include his son, Eric Patterson (Stephanie) of Sledge, sister, Jo Ann Patterson Ware of Batesville, his loving companion, Marilyn Harrelson, of Enid, and his granddaughter, Mary Grace Patterson of Sledge.

In addition to his parents, Jimmy is preceded in death by one brother, Michael Jean Patterson.

Hilda Thompson Russell

Hilda Thompson Russell, age 87, passed away Sunday morning, August 21, 2016 at Baptist Memorial Hospital of North MS in Oxford.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 24, 2016, at Central Academy Church of Christ in Batesville with interment in Forrest Memorial Park.

Hilda was born December 23, 1928, in Tallahatchie county, to the late Joseph Oyett and Virginia Anthony Thompson.

She was a member of Central Academy Church of Christ and a retired beautician for over forty years. In her down time, Hilda enjoyed reading, cooking and sewing. She also loved going bowling.

Hilda is survived by her daughter, Shirley Russell Parham of Memphis; son, Larry Melton of Ashland; six sisters, Mildred Thompson Gordon of Pope, Joan Thompson Sharp of Duck Hill, Nina Thompson Hays of Carrollton, Faye Thompson Clark of Pope, Jetty Thompson Whitsell of Pope, Mavis Thompson King of Yelm, Wash.; brother, Corley Thompson of Scobey; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Other than her parents, Hilda was preceded in death by three sisters, Dotsy Thompson Joyner, Daisy Bell Joyner, Draper Mae Thompson Odom and her brother, Joseph Preston Thompson.

Ella Mae Taylor

Ella Mae Taylor, 97, of Como, passed away August 23, 2016 at her residence.
 Services will be Saturday at 12 p.m. at Cedar Grove M.B. Church in Como where she was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
