South Panola school officials through First Security Bank, Batesville Elementary School Booster Club and SP Foundation of Education are closing out the recovery portion of the July 10 fire by thanking those responsible for donations to help purchase items to get kindergarten teachers and classrooms back in business.

In an advertisement in this publication, (Page A14), signed by representatives of the different organizations, the thank you ad states, “With the overwhelming support from Batesville, Panola County, and many communities across the state and country, the teachers were able to purchase needed supplies for their classrooms and begin the school year as originally scheduled.
First Security Bank’s pledge to match the first $15,000 raised to help in the recovery, was quickly reached and surpassed.

Approximately 12 fire stations from across the county and Senatobia were recognized for their assistance at the August 29 halftime at South Panola High School’s football game.
