Wanda Fae Crawley


BATESVILLE –– Wanda Fae Crawley, 63, died Sunday, January 27, 2013, at her residence.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Derek Boyd, Rev. Wes Sherman and Rev. Lee Graham will officiate. Burial will be in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery located on Hwy 315 between Batesville and Water Valley. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5 – 8 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home.

Wanda was born in Batesville, to Viola Maynard and Tiger E. Crawley on August 31, 1949.
For many years she traveled around Mississippi and Tennesse playing the piano and singing with gospel quartets.

She taught voice and piano lessons. She was the church pianist and organist in many North Mississippi Baptist churches, including Hebron, Harmontown, Twin Lakes and Pilgrims Rest Churches.
For years she was an active class member in Explorer’s Bible Study in Batesville. She was a member of Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church.

She graduated from Batesville High School in 1967 and from there she continued her education at Delta State University, and on to William Carey College then to the University of Mississippi.
Her professional career kept her close to home, as she worked for the United States Postal Service.

She began working in the Lambert post office, then moved on to Water Valley, where she began beating the pavement as a city route carrier. Years later she was promoted to the position of “window clerk” where she continued to develop many friendships in the small town. In late 2010, health problems forced her to take early retirement from Grenada’s post office. She had served the USPS for 23 years.

Survivors include: her sister, Dot Crawley Heath of Batesville: two brothers, Al Crawley (Diane) of Jackson, and Melvin Crawley (Vicki) of Pontotoc, son-in-law Derek Boyd (Karla) of Mesa, Ariz.; three grandchildren, Bowen, Jackson and Lily Grace Boyd of Mesa, Ariz. and three nieces, who were like her daughters, Susan Heath Wright (Kenny) of Brandon, Sherry Heath Austin (Allen) of Courtland,  and Rhonda Heath Mastin (David) of Holly Springs.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her only child, Tina Fae Caruthers Boyd, a sister, Libby Crawley Sherwood, brothers, Joe A. Crawley and Tiger Willard Crawley.

Georgia Elaine Gross


BATESVILLE – Georgia Elaine Gross, 61, died Thursday, January 24, 2013, at her residence.

Services will be held today at 10 a.m. at Hernando Funeral Home. Burial will be in New Bethlehem Cemetery. Hernando Funeral Home has charge.

Survivors include: one daughter, Paula Schneider of Burleson, Texas; one son, James A. Gross of Batesville; three sisters, Patricia Worley of Coldwater, Karen McCain of Merrillville, Tenn. and Wyomie Caffie of Sardis; two brothers, Carl Manuel and Charles Manuel, both of Coldwater and four grandchildren.

Kenneth Wayne Pearson

BATESVILLE — Kenneth Wayne Pearson, 67, died January 24, 2013.

 Graveside services were held Saturday at Lambert Cemetery.  Rev. Rusty Miller officiated. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge.

Pearson was born December 31, 1945.

Survivors include: three sisters, Mamie Bray of Batesville, Juanita Stevabridge of Millport, Ala. and Betty Hills of McMinville, Tenn.; four brothers, Frank Pearson of Dallas, Robert Pearson, Joe Pearson and Raymond Pearson, all of Batesville.

George William Reinemann


BATESVILLE –– George William Reinemann, 58, died Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.  

Services were held Sunday at Henry Chapel at Seven Oaks Funeral Home. Bro. Lee Graham and Bro. Wes Sherman officiated.  Burial was in Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery

Born to the late Patricia Mae and Floyd Frances Reinemann in Madison, Wis., he became a mechanical engineer and worked for many years at Holley Carburetor/Borg Warner in Water Valley.  He later went to work at Winchester/Olin Corporation He was a member of Pilgrim’s Rest Baptist Church in Panola County.

Survivors include: his wife, Teresa Reinemann of Batesville,; two daughters, Kelley Reinemann-Banks of Alexandria, Va. and Nikki Reinemann of Batesville; five sisters, Lorrie Holubiw, Dorothy Kimmerling (Dave), Susan Hackworthy, Judy Reinemann, and Lisa Reinemann, all of Wisconsin; one brother, Richard Reinemann of Michigan; and one grandson.

Hank Ridings Sr.

BENTON, Ky – Hank Ridings Sr., 77 of Benton, Ky., formerly of Batesville, died Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, KY.

Mr. Ridings was a computer programmer and served in the United States Air Force.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara Haynes of Benton, Ky.; four sons, Walter Dacheux of Athens, Tenn., Dennis Dacheux of Dillsburg, Pa., Billy Holt of Benton, Ky., and Hank Ridings Jr. of Cape Canal, Fla.; three daughters, Pam Rutherford of Rochester, N.Y., Frances Chandler of Atlanta, Ga., and Debra Lane of Columbus, Ga.; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

No services are planned at this time. Cremation Society of Paducah is in charge of the arrangements.

Billy Seale


BATESVILLE — Billy Seale, 90, died Thursday, January 24, 2013, at Sardis Community Nursing Home.

Services were Saturday at Dickins Funeral Home. Burial was in Magnolia Cemetery. Rev. Ed Woodall officiated. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.

Seale, born Nov. 12, 1922, in Batesville, to the late Ivy Seale and Ora Rotenberry Seale, was retired from Tennessee Gas Pipeline as a Division Accountant. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of WWII where he served in the Air Force as a flight engineer on a B-24.  He was stationed in Italy and Germany.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Sandra Turner.

Survivors include: his wife, Jane Figg Seale of Batesville; two sons, Brent Seale of Vicksburg and Forrest Seale of San Antonio, Texas; one brother, Harvey Seale of Batesville; one sister, Pollie Gilmer of Memphis; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
