David Wayne Daugherty


COURTLAND – David Wayne Daugherty, 57, died Monday, July 30, 2012, in Batesville

Graveside services were held Thursday, August 2, at Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Daugherty was born on July 4, 1955 in Batesville to David Ludurl and Marcia Fay Ware Daugherty. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for W.A. Sanders Construction Company out of Hernando. He was a member of the First Pentecostal Church of Batesville.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Kay McCullar Daugherty of Courtland; his mother, Marcia Fay Wake Daugherty of Batesville; one son, David “Dusty” Daniel Daugherty of Water Valley; his brother, Bobby Ludurl Daugherty of Batesville; and one grandchild.


Mary Ida Johns Cook LeQueux

SARDIS – Mary Ida Johns Cook LeQueux, 57, died Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.

Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. Wells Funeral Home. Rev. Sonnie Houston will officiate. Burial will be in Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

LeQueux, born in Memphis, on Jan. 8, 1955, to Lemaul Maxwell and Frances Houston Johns, was an entrepreneur and a member of the Locke Station Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sammy Mayes LeQueux.

Survivors include: her daughter, Wendy Cook Isbell of Sardis; two sons, Travis Cook of Batesville and Jonathan Johns of Batesville; one sister, Sissy Johns Wilson of Batesville; two brothers, David Johns of Indianola and Johnny Johns of Crowder and six grandchildren.

The family requests that any memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn., 38105.

Lizzie White

SLEDGE– Lizzie White, 71, died Saturday, July 28, 2012, at her daughter’s residence in Walls.

Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Mt. Zion M.B. Church in Sledge. Pastor Mark Connor will officiate. Burial will be in Burrell Chapel Cemetery in Falcon. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary and Saturday from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. at Mt. Zion M.B. Church.  Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.

White, born Sept. 1, 1940, in Sledge, to Marsilla White and Christine Ford White, was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Zion M.B. Church.

Survivors include: four daughters, Willie Jean Parks of Walls, Shirley Douglas, Jennifer Tinnel and Marie White, all of Sledge; seven sons, Charles Harris, Raymond Harris, Edward Harris, Davy Harris, Clarence White, all of Sledge, Lester Harris of Jackson, Ricky Harris of Las Vegas; seven sisters, Mattie Wright of Sledge, Gloria Wright of Little Rock, Yvette Robertson and Levan McCray, both of West Helena, Ark., Macie Donald of Memphis, Michelle Eackles of Sherman, Texas, Penny Anderson of Chicago; two brothers, Tommy White of Sledge and Curtis White of Little Rock, Ark.; 31 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.
