For the third year in a row, Andrew Thornton has delivered the first cotton bloom in Panola County to The Panolian office. Thornton was accompanied by his niece, Elizabeth Rone, 9, when he came in on June 29 with the evidence, one pink bloom and one white one. Thornton has 160 acres of cotton this year, and the first blooms came from a field at the corner of Herron and Benson Roads near Courtland.
