The last time the teams met the Lady Tigers cruised past the Lady Chargers 61-31.

Celebrating senior night, Grenada played with determination and focus, while the Lady Tigers seemed out of sync.

At the end of the first quarter South Panola led 14-13.

Chresha Brown and NaPorshue each hit three-pointers to hold on to the lead.

Grenada’s defense showed up and held the Lady Tigers scoreless for the equivalent of a quarter and two minutes to take a 25-15 halftime lead.

The Lady Tigers were silent from 2:08 in the first quarter to 1.7 seconds in the second before scoring.

Leading scorer Christa Brown found herself in foul trouble again with four fouls in the first half and was benched.

“Grenada was looking to draw that fifth foul on Christa,” said Lady Tiger head coach Ralph Stallings.  “There were a couple of calls we didn’t get the first half but we did get the second half. If we had gotten those reverse calls Christa would’ve never been in foul trouble.”

Brown finished with 24 points.

Late in the third Grenada had a 22 point lead, 41-19.  Brown re-entered the game and got the team back in the game the second half.

Going into the fourth Grenada had a 41-22 lead. The Lady Tigers made an effort to get back in the game, holding Grenada to only four points. Christa Brown scored 14 in the fourth, along with Chresha Brown’s three-pointer and Ty’Raven Collins’ two free throws but still came up short.

The Lady Tigers remain in third place in the division.
