A man with a loaded gun was disarmed without incident late Friday at Martin Bros. Scrap Metal in Sardis, authorities said.
The sheriff’s department planned to charge Billy Woods of Sardis with disturbing a business, a misdemeanor, said sheriff’s investigator Barry Thompson.
The investigator, citing eyewitnesses, said Woods, 68, appeared intoxicated and was told to leave the premises.
“There may have been an argument and he was told to leave,” Thompson said.
Woods returned to Martin Bros. and allegedly displayed a .45 caliber pistol in his waistband.
Thompson said a sheriff’s deputy was nearby when a 911 call was made from the business. Woods then surrendered the pistol to the deputy.
