Jones Letter

Writer defends publisher; likes trains, cats, etc.

In reference to the June 4 letter, “Publisher no gentleman, should limit his columns to Panola subjects,” let me start off by saying whenever I read or see something that I disagree with I usually complain to friends or family and go on about my business.

However, this particular article burned me up. I am no lifelong friend of the family nor did I know Mr. John’s father, matter of fact, I’ve only known Mr. Howell for a short time.

With that said, I have never met a more unbiased, friendly and just all-around nice guy. First off, this is still a country that believes in freedom of speech and secondly, if you get fired up every time someone has something to say about Sara Palin you are going to stay an unhappy person. Do you really think John McCain lost the election all by himself?

Also, I’m not quite sure who your many others are, but I assure you the people I know love his articles, myself included. I look forward every Tuesday and Friday to getting my paper to read all the opinions and articles. I enjoy the train rides, cats and parades. I know when I pick up the paper there is going to be some good in there along with the news.

If all you want is death and destruction then turn on the news or read the big city newspapers. With The Panolian, I get a little of both. That is one reason I live in a small town. You say that all you want is local news? Well, if that ever happens you would get a three-page newspaper because there is not that much going on, thank God.

As for the BP oil spill, hurricane or any real news, why would you care it’s not in Panola County. If you thought Mr. John was rude and crude, the you really should go back and read your article because you were very ugly. And yes, I have also asked others.

The bottom line is you can’t make everybody happy, and if you don’t like the articles then skip the page but don’t ruin it for others. With all that said, it’s opinions, people! Agree or disagree, but don’t ever put someone down publicly who doesn’t deserve it. And that’s just my opinion.
