Judge rules no probable cause for arrest warrant

By Billy Davis

The decision, by Judge Robert Chamberlin, means Tedford will not face a trial in Panola County Justice Court.

The Batesville police officer stood accused of threatening a minor, a 17-year-old teenager, over text messages made to his daughter. The teenager’s mother, Mary Carothers, had filed charges against Tedford in justice court.

Chamberlin announced his ruling at 11:25 a.m., concluding a two-hour hearing at the county courthouse in DeSoto County. Watch for more information in the Friday edition of The Panolian.
