Batesville city board adopts non-smoking ordinance

The Batesville Mayor and Board of Aldermen voted 4-1 to adopt on non-smoking ordinance during Tuesday’s regular meeting.
Bill Dugger, who had opposed the city stepping in to go no smoking during previous meetings, was the only nay vote while aldermen Eddie Nabors, Ted Stewart, Teddy Morrow and Stan Harrison voting yes.
The ordinance will become effective in 30 days.
“We are doing this to help promote safety and general healthcare,” Nabors said.
