Tigers win one of three in spring break tournament

The South Panola Tigers are 1-3 after spring break action at the Madison Central Tournament this week.

Monday, the Tigers lost a close one to Terry 7-6. Mitchell Babb took the loss on the mound. Then, Babb came back and got the win over Brandon Tuesday, 1-0.

Against Brandon Lee Self and Dane Broome each got two hits.

Against Terry, South Panola got seven hits. Whit Whitten had two singles. The six runs all came in the top of the sixth inning to take the lead, 6-4. Terry countered with three runs in the bottom of the seventh to retake the lead and the win.

Wednesday, the Tigers lost 3-1 to Quitman Co. Matt Hendrix took the loss. South Panola had four hits and scored on a passed ball.

In upcoming baseball, the ninth grade team will host Tupelo Monday in a doubleheader beginning at 5 p.m.

Tuesday, the Tigers will host Columbus in district action at 5 and 7 p.m.

A junior high doubleheader with Magnolia Heights has been added for March 23 at Magnolia Heights.
