The process allows for a thorough inspection of the "Outlet Works" by Enid Operation and Maintenance Personnel and also the Vicksburg District Inspection Team.

This five-year inspection process is conducted to insure the integrity of Enid Dam and the Outlet Works. This year, de-watering is scheduled to begin on June 9.

A tremendous amount of planning and preparations begins weeks, months, and even years ahead of this time. This is when Tim Taylor, Facility Manager, David Hall, Civil Engineering Technician, and the Operation and Maintenance Crew shine.

Equipment must be prepared and scheduled for this tremendous undertaking. Not only does the proper equipment have to be on hand, but also the proper people in the proper places at the proper time.

The process begins by closing the Outlet Channel gates. Since the gates do not completely seal, sawdust is added (usually at least a dump truck load). The sawdust swells when it gets wet and forms a watertight seal.

They sponsor the All-American sports camp for children 6 to 18 years old. The camp will be held Saturday, May 31.

Townsend is in his sixth year with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Rudd will begin his first season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Rudd played his first four years with the Minnesota Vikings and the last two years with the Cleveland Browns.

Both have been on teams which made the playoffs.

Over 200 children have signed up to participate in the football, basketball and cheerleading activities, according to coordinator Kiffany Dugger. There is space for 75 more children.

Registration will be held from 8 to 9 a.m. Saturday morning to fill those spots.

"A parent or guardian must accompany children to sign the release form," Dugger said.

Other NFL players, along with college players, have helped conduct the camp in the past.

Past NFL players who came to Batesville include Hines Ward, Plaxico Burress and Nakia Codie.
