Ann Whitten Brame

BATESVILLE––Ann Whitten Brame, 90, passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2016, at her residence in Batesville.
Funeral services were held Sunday, August 28, at First United Methodist Church in Batesville. Interment was held at Batesville Magnolia Cemetery.
Mrs. Brame was born in Batesville, on October 19, 1925, to Elizabeth Price Whitten and John Wesley Whitten.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Batesville, where she was a member of the United Methodist Women and actively volunteered and devoted her time to church activities.
She loved to paint, was an avid Ole Miss Fan and member of Chi Omega Sorority.
Mrs. Brame is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth Brame Byrd (Ellis) and one son, Wesley Whitten Brame, all of Batesville; two grandchildren, Ernest Levi “Lee” Garner, III (Beth) of Batesville and Ann Whitten Bright “Whit” (Shane) of Nesbit; granddaughter-in-law Catherine Parr Garner of Batesville; seven great-grandchildren, Ernest Levi Garner, IV, Sloan Elle Garner, Mickinley Carter Garner, Miles Whitten Garner, deYampert Brame Garner, II, Preston Shane Bright, Ainsley Elizabeth Bright; and her beloved granddog, Mia.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Julius deYampert Brame; grandson, deYampert “Dee” Brame Garner; and her parents.

Agnes Pickett Hartzell

Mrs. Agnes Pickett Hartzell, 98, of Pope, passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Providence Assisted Living in Batesville.
Funeral services were held Monday at Dickins Funeral Home. Burial followed in Chapel Hill Cemetery in Pope. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.
Mrs. Hartzell, a retired dental assistant, was born on October 27, 1917 in Pope, to the late Virgie Nelson Pickett and John Henry Pickett. She was a member of Pope Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was also active with the Pope Woman’s Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paige Hartzell; her brother, Joseph Barney Pickett; and her nephew, John Mark Pickett, as well as her parents.

Mrs. Hartzell is survived by her nephews, Joseph Rodney Pickett of Pope, and Joel Stanton Pickett of Greenville, Ill.; four great-nieces and great-nephews, Elizabeth Grayson Pickett and John Cade Pickett, both of Pope, and Cole Stanton Pickett and Rylee Nicole Pickett, both of Greenville, Ill.; and her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Pickett of Pope.

Kerry Terrell McGhee Jr.

BATESVILLE––Kerry Terell McGhee Jr., 1 month, died Tuesday, August 23, 2016, LeBonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis.
Graveside services were held Saturday, August 27, at New Bethlehem M.B. Church in Batesville. Pastor Larry McGhee officiated. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge of arrangements.
McGhee was born July 18, 2016, at Regional One in Memphis, to Kerry Terrell McGhee and Shawanda Walker, both of Batesville.

Mary Carlisle Jackson

SARDIS––Mrs. Mary Carlisle Jackson, 88, passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2016.
Funeral services were held Monday at the First Baptist Church in Sardis. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery. Ray-Nowell Funeral Home-Sardis Chapel had charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Jackson, a homemaker and former telephone operator for Bell South, was born on January 22, 1928 in Sardis to the late Pearl Mixon Carlisle and William Gurvis Carlisle. She was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church in Sardis for over 80 years. She was very artistic and loved painting and making pottery and jewelry in her spare time. A devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, she will be deeply missed.
Mrs. Jackson is survived by her husband of 65 years, James Vernon Jackson; one son, James Michael Jackson (Rita), all of Sardis; one sister, Peggy Carlisle of Cordova, Tenn.; one step-grandson, Michael Paul Ware; one great-granddaughter, Natalie Renee Ware; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Baptist Children’s Village.

Raymond E. Ladd

Raymond E. Ladd, age 78, passed away Friday evening, August 26, 2016, at Baptist Memorial Hospital of North Mississippi in Oxford..
Funeral services were held Monday at Davis Chapel United Methodist Church. Committal services followed in Davis Chapel Cemetery with military honors being provided by the U.S. Air Force. Reverend Charlie Simmons officiated. Wells Funeral Home had charge.
Raymond was born November 6, 1937, in Trumann, Ark. to the late Jack and Gladys Virginia Montgomery Ladd. He was a retired aircraft inspection specialist and honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Raymond enjoyed the outdoors and took great pride and pleasure in training beagles and Labrador retrievers where he would compete in field trials with his beloved dogs. Raymond loved to duck hunt, fly airplanes and in his younger years, he enjoyed riding motorcycles.
 His greatest love and passion was for his family, especially his grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Raymond was preceded in death by his son, Michael Carl Ladd.
Raymond’s memory will be cherished by his wife, Carolyn Baker Ladd of Como; three daughters, Vicki Ladd Wood of Coldwater, Donna Ladd Allen of Hernando, Carole Ladd Spencer of Memphis; son, Raymond E. “Ray” Ladd Jr. of Batesville; sister, Patricia Ladd “Patti” Elrod of Asheville, N.C.; brother, Michael Carl Ladd of Memphis; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
