NP: No decision yet on make up days

By Rupert Howell
North Panola School superintendent Cedric Richardson will present his school make-up days plan to his trustee board Monday night.

That district has yet to make a decision on when and how to make up nine days of school. South Panola has a tentative plan to only make up two of the eight days missed—those two days were already built into the school calendar.

A tentative plan for North Panola released last week was later withdrawn and had students and teachers going to school for four Saturdays, the Memorial Day holiday and adding four days to the end of the year.

That plan was withdrawn after state school officials and other districts found wording in the law through the State Attorney General’s Office that offered alternatives.

The North Panola School District’s trustee board meeting was earlier rescheduled for Monday, March 30 at 6:30 p.m. instead of the usual third Monday.

The monthly meetings are held in the North Panola High School library on Highway 51 North in Sardis.
