ND plays in Winona preseason tournament

With football entering its final weeks and into post season play, basketball season is right around the corner as the North Delta Lady Green Wave tipped off its campaign Wednesday against Greenville Washington at the Winona Christian pre-season tournament.

North Delta came out smoking in the first half as they took  a 26-17 halftime lead, but could not hold on late as the Generals hit the game winning field goal with .01 second left to take a 50-48 victory.

The Lady Waves extended its lead to 35-25 with 2:05 left in the third quarter before Washington began to chip at the margin before taking a 40-38 lead with 4:06 left in the game. North Delta knotted the score at 46 on a Shelby Province basket with 1:40 left to play.

After both teams traded baskets, the Lady Waves missed two crucial free throws  with 35 seconds remaining that opened the door for Washington’s game-winning shot.

Lauren Snider paced North Delta in scoring with 15 points to go along with three assists and three steals. Province followed with nine points, nine rebounds and one blocked shot. Janie Brasell also provided nine points, three assists and four steals.

Anna Lloyd added eight points and two steals while Sarah Johnson chipped in with four points, four steals and four assists. Ginger Stephens rounded out scoring with three points, two assists and two steals.

North Delta continued in the tournament by taking on Carroll yesterday at 2:30.
