Forum looks to prosperous future

Glenn McCullough Jr., former chairman of the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) will be featured speaker at the Panola Partnership’s Fall Forum, October 9.

McCullough is also former mayor of Tupelo.

He was appointed to the TVA board in 1999 and named board president by President George W. Bush in 2001, a position he held until 2005.

McCullough is recognized as a proponent of sound energy policy and is frequently sought for comment by Fox News, Bloomberg and other media outlets.

Today McCullough is CEO of GLM Associates and a partner in Ardillo, McCullough and Taggart, LLC, lobbying firms that specialize in business development, government relations and executive counsel. He served as director of the Appalachian Regional Commission from 1993-’97. He is a 1977 graduate of Mississippi State.

McCullough will speak at the Fall Forum’s luncheon session at the Panola County Club.

Education Forum
The Forum’s morning session will begin at 8 a.m. At the Batesville Civic Center when a panel will discuss the role of education in laying foundation for a successful and prosperous future, the Panola Partnership’s announcement states.

The panel will include three Panola County educators — South Panola Schools Superintendent Tim Wilder, North Panola Schools Superintendent Cedric Richardson and North Delta School Headmaster John Howell Jr.

They will be joined on the panel by Doug Freeze, assistant Director of Workforce Development at Northwest Mississippi Community College.

Retail Session
At 10 a.m. The Retail Coach CEO C. Kelly Cofer and Regional Project Director Joseph Koon will present the findings of the Retail Study and Gap Plan recently completed for Batesville.

With Cofer and Koon will be John Brandon of the Entrepreneur Center at the Mississippi Development Authority. Brandon will point to ways to utilize the finding from the retail study.

Following lunch will be a four-man scramble golf tournament. The Forum day will end with an After Hours Networking Social at 5:30 p.m.
