Irene Bonner Carrigan
CHARLESTON–– Irene Bonner Carrigan, 69, died on Saturday, September 13, 2014, in Memphis. She was the sister of Betty Moore of Courtland.

Services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Newsom Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Newsom Funeral Home has charge.

Mrs. Carrigan, born to the late Charlie and Helen Bonner, was a homemaker and a member of Scenic Hills Church of Christ in Pearl.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Sonya Mittlestat. 

Survivors along with her sister include: daughters Jacqueline Byrd of Chester, Va, Tonya Mittlestat and Stephanie Milam, both of Memphis; son Stacy Mittlestat of Memphis; sisters Ruthie Taylor of Memphis, Linda Gatlin of Ripley,Tenn., 13 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Bill R. Corbin Sr.
MARKS–– Bill R. Corbin Sr, 82, died Sunday, September 14, 2014, in Marks. He was the father of Thomas Fowler of Batesville.

 Services were held Wednesday at Kimbro Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Lambert Cemetery. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge.

Mr. Corbin, born to the late Homer and Maggie Corbin, was a farmer and a Baptist.
 
Survivors along with his son include: his caregiver, Patsy Corbin of Lambert; daughters Charlene Mitchell and Patricia Everett, both of Lambert; sons Harold Corbin of Madison, Billy Corbin Jr. of Greenville, Billy Ray Fowler of Lambert,; 10 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Lambert Methodist Church.

Morie L. Daniels
CHICAGO–– Morie L. Daniels, 76, formerly of Sardis, died Sunday, September 7, 2014.

Services were held Sunday at Henderson Funeral Home Chapel in Sardis. Burial was in Mt. Level M.B. Church Cemetery. Henderson Funeral Home had charge.

Daniels, born Nov. 24, 1938, in Sardis, to the late Ernest Brooks and Jennie Ruth Brooks, graduated from Green Hill High School and Chicago State University and Dominican University. She was employed with the State of Illinois for 38 years. She was a member of New Covenant M.B. Church in Chicago.

Survivors include: her husband, James L. Daniels of Chicago; one daughter, Debra A. Hogan of Phoenix; son, Bobby G. Brooks of Dumfries, Va. and six grandchildren.

Charles Leonard Donahou
SARDIS––Charles Leonard Donahou, 87, died Sunday, September 14, 2014 at V.A. Medical Center in Memphis.

Services were held Wednesday at Union Baptist Church. Ray-Nowell Funeral Home had charge.
Donahou, born April 23, 1927, in Tag, Ark. to the late Robert Lee Donahou and Zorias Sausbee Donahou, was a member of Union Baptist Church, was a 32nd degree Mason and member of the Scottish Rite.  He served in the United States Army and Navy, was a veteran of World War II, served in Korea and Philippines and was a Sergeant who trained troops for Vietnam. 

He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-nine years, Dorothy Faye Donahou, one daughter, Regina Hall, and one son, Edward Donahou.

Survivors include: one daughter, Glenda Donahou of Baton Rouge, La; four sons, Bud Donahou and Robert Donahou of Senatobia, Richard Donahou and Denver Donahou, of Sardis; one sister, Glenna Joyce Apple of Hector, Ark; 20 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

John Shuford Dickins III
WILMINGTON, N.C.––John Shuford Dickins III, 74, formerly of Batesville, died Saturday, September 13, 2014. He was the uncle of Stacy Dickins of Batesville.

Memorial services were held Tuesday at Winter Park Presbyterian Church in Wilmington, N.C.
Dickins, born in Batesville July 6, 1940, to the late John Shuford Dickins Jr. and Paulene (Polly) Zorah Dickins, was a Mississippi State graduate in mechanical engineering. He joined Dupont following graduation where he was employed for the next 40 years. Upon retiring he used his time with Habitat for Humanity, was an elder at Winter Park Presbyterian Church and attended Dupont retirees’ breakfast and monthly poker nights.

Survivors include: his wife of 51 years, Geraldine Dickins;  daughters, Holli Dickins Jones, Leigh Anne Wimbish; son John Shuford Dickins IV; sisters Harriet Westmoreland and Edna Golden; brother, Bill Dickins of Oxford and six grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or Habitat for Humanity.

Reby Echoles
COMO–– Reby L. Echoles, 78, died Tuesday, September 9, 2014.

Services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Felix Cauthen Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Saturday from 11 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Senatobia Memorial Cemetery. Felix Cauthen Funeral Home has charge.

Echoles, was a homemaker.

Survivors include: two daughters, Clara A. Echoles of Como and Tina L. Ware of Senatobia; three sons, Charles E. Echoles and Aaron E. Echoles, both of Memphis and Walter W. Echoles of Como; three sisters, Minnie Turner of Como, Ruthie Evans of Detroit, Mich. and Louise White of Coldwater; 17 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Clifton Hudson Sr.
BATESVILLE–– Clifton Hudson Sr., 55, died Thursday, September 11, 2014, at his residence.

Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Macedonia M.B. Church. Pastor Carl Brown will officiate. Visitation will be held today 2 p.m. – 6 p.m.. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Burial will be in Shiloh C.M.E. Cemetery. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.

Hudson, born May 25, 1959, to the late Hardin Hudson and Mary Lee Henderson Hudson, graduated from South Panola High School, was a tool and die maker, farmer and a member of Second Concord M.B. Church.

Survivors include: his wife, Ruby Jean Hudson; two sons, Marcus Sanford of Chicago and Clifton Hudson Jr. of Batesville; one daughter, Courtney Hudson of Batesville; four brothers, Robert Hudson and Bob Hudson,  both of Batesville, Zeno Hudson of Chicago and M.C. Hudson of Seattle; two sisters, Stella Vann of Inglewood, Calif. and Rose Pride of Chicago and one grandchild.

Louise Sanford Jones
COURTLAND–– Louise Sanford Jones, 57, died Saturday, September 13, 2014, at Golden Living Center.

Services will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. at Mt. Gillion M.B. Church. Rev. Charles Fairlee will officiate. Visitation will be held Saturday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Burial will be in Salem Church Cemetery. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge

Jones, born May 27, 1957, in Batesville, to Urna Louise Sanford of Batesville and the late Sonny Lee Towns, was a certified nurse’s assistant at Golden Living Center and a member of the First Baptist Church in Como.

Survivors along with her mother include: four daughters, Tammy Pitchford of Courtland, Tina Draper of Sardis, Latasha Lewis and ZeAndrea Butler, both of Batesville; seven brothers, Tyrone Sanford of Memphis, Micah Sanford of Atlanta, Lamar Sanford of Crowder, James Ford of Courtland, Willie Ford and Walter Sanford, both of Kansas City and Danny Sanford of Courtland; seven sisters, Thelma Davis, Mary Griffin, Dorothy Sanford, all of Batesville, Elizabeth Kimble of Oakland, Resia Parker of Courtland, Dolly Morgan of Sardis and Shirley Ann Ivy of Senatobia and 14 grandchildren.

William Alan Pilcher
WATER VALLEY––William Alan Pilcher, 44, died Monday, September 15, 2014 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi.  He was born February 12, 1970 in Panola County, to Billy Dwight and Margie Ramsey Pilcher of Water Valley, was an automotive technician for Heafner Motors.

 He was a member of Woodland Hills Baptist Church of Water Valley.  

Services were held Thursday at Seven Oaks Funeral Home. Rev. Lynn Jones officiated. Burial was in Camp Ground Cemetery.  Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley had charge.

Survivors along with his parents include: his wife, Angela Schmitz Pilcher; two daughters, Kayla Pilcher of Batesville and Whitney Massey of Pontotoc; one son, William Alan Pilcher Jr. of Water Valley; one sister, Robin Bowen of Gresham, Ore. and three grandchildren.

Thomas Edward Walls
SARDIS––Thomas Edward Walls, 65, died Friday, September 12, 2014, at his residence.

Services will be held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Viney Creek M.B. Church. Pastor Zannie Leland will officiate.

Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held today 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary.

Walls, born Sept. 4, 1949, to the late Charles Walls and Lelia Mae Roberson Walls, was a member of Rock Hill M.B. Church.

Survivors include: his wife, Walterene Powell; one son, Myron Powell of Batesville; one daughter, Shanta Powell of Batesville; one brother, James Walls of Chicago; two sisters, Josephine Walls and Beatrice Ford, both of Detroit; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
