Mary Beth Hays was selected as the Batesville Rotary Club’s student of the month from South Panola High School for April.

The senior class member is the daughter of Carlton Hays III and Hollie Roberson.

At South Panola Mary Beth is a member of the Beta Club, the 21 Plus Club, Junior Civitan and DECA. She was selected Miss SPHS and as a member of the homecoming court for the last three years. She was also named to the prom court.

In extracurricular activities, Mary Beth is a member of the Batesville Sub-Deb Cotillion Club, the Junior Auxiliary Crown Club, and the First United Methodist Church including its youth group. She also enjoys the time she spends with friends.

Mary Beth’s time spent in volunteer work with children who have learning disabilities has stimulated her interest in attending Northwest Mississippi Community College to major in pre-communicative disorders with a goal of becoming a speech pathologist.

“I like helping students overcome obstacles and feel better about themselves,” she said.

South Panola 10th grade counselor and school test coordinator Janet Dickerson introduced Mary Beth and her family.

The Batesville Rotary Club’s student of the month program recognizes each month an outstanding senior from SPHS and North Delta School.
