Rosie Lee Bobo

BATESVILLE––Rosie Lee Bobo, 89, passed away Thursday, November 10, 2016, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi.
Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Pastor Nehemiah Martin will officiate. Burial will be held in Shiloh Church Cemetery in Courtland. Visitation will be today 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary.
Bobo, born Oct. 8, 1927, in Batesville, to the late Kirk Robertson and the late Olivett Bradford Robertson, was a retired cafeteria worker at Batesville Elementary. She was also a member of Shiloh M.B. Church in Courtland.
Survivors include: four sons, Larry Bobo, Lionel Bobo and Curtis Bobo, all of Batesville and Willie Bobo Jr. of Oakland; two adoptive sons, Grady Thomas of Pittsburg, Pa. and Curtis Hamilton of Oxford; two daughters, Barbara Bobo Fields of Jacksonville, Fla. and Rosezetta Bobo of Tallahassee, Fla. and adoptive Norma Jean Cooley of Batesville; 20 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Rev. William A. Lewis

SARDIS––Rev. William A. Lewis, 72, died Saturday, November 12, 2016, at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis.
Services will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at Viney Creek M.B. Church in Sardis. Pastor Ozine Thomas will officiate. Visitation will be Saturday 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary with memorial services 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary.
Burial will be held at West Tennessee VA Cemetery in Memphis. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.
Lewis, born Dec. 5, 1943, in Memphis, to the late James Dewit Lewis and Odessa Johnson Lewis, was a youth mentor at North Panola School District.
He was a member of Viney Creek M.B. Church in Sardis where he served as a youth minister and was former pastor of Coleman Chapel A.M.E. Church, Sandy Springs and Eudora A.M.E. Zion Church.
He served as a chaplain intern at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Desoto. He was a Boys to Men mentor and a member of Youth Opportunity Unlimited Counsel. He was a member of the VFW #12121 were he served a post commander.
He was a baseball referee and former bus driver for North Panola School District.
He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army and received two Purple Hearts in the Vietnam War.
Survivors include: his devoted wife of 39 years, Dorris J. Lewis of Memphis; two sons, Immamu K. Lewis of Knoxville, Tenn. and Chenyilu L. Lewis of Memphis; three daughters, Marimba M. Lewis and Adetola O. Hubbard and Bamidele A. Booker, all of Memphis; two brothers, Joe Lewis of Queens, N.Y. and Jessie Lewis of Memphis; two sisters, Majorie Lenton of Memphis and Mary Jo Penny of Tampa, Fla.; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mary Lois Ware

CROWDER––Mrs. Mary Lois Ware, age 56, passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2016, at her residence.
Memorial services will be held Saturday at Crowder Assembly of God. Wells Funeral Home has charge.
Mary was born November 21, 1959 to Mary Jane Carpenter Walker and the late Audyie Ray Walker in Marks, MS. Mary was a factory worker during her life time and a member of Crowder Assembly of God.

Jessie James Watson

BATESVILLE––Jessie James Watson, 61, inspector for Serta Mattress, died November 12, 2016 at Region One in Memphis.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at noon at Pilgrim’s Rest M.B. Church. Visitation will be held today  from 11 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. at L. Hodges Funeral Services in Oxford and from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. at Pilgrim’s Rest M.B. in Batesville.
Burial will be held at the church cemetery.
He was member of Pilgrim Rest M.B. Church, where he served as deacon, choir member, president of Laymen and Sunday School teacher. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, Shriner Highland Temple#131; Pope Lodge#445; Consistory Edward S. Baker #145.
