Sheriff: County resident returns home to find strange woman inside her home

On October 23 Investigator Terry Smith was called to Pope Crowder Road where a resident came home to find a woman inside her home.
According to the report, the resident didn’t know the woman, who stated she and her boyfriend got into a fight and she got out of the car and came to the house.
The resident stated she gave the woman a ride to her uncles and dropped her off. Upon returning home the resident noticed her keys missing to her house, car and church, but found nothing else missing, according to the report.
Investigator Smith is continuing attempts to contact the woman in regards to the missing keys and why she would enter someone else’s home.
Shiloh Road resident reported to Investigator Danny Beavers the father of her child kicked in the door to her residence and took their one-year-old son.
According to the report, both parents are fighting for custody but have not been to court over the matter. Investigator Beavers spoke to the father on the resident’s cell phone.
According to the report, Investigator Smith requested the father bring the child back to the residence. The father stated he was at his parents home located directly behind the resident’s home.
The child was returned to the residence and the father was transported to the Panola County Sheriff’s office for incarceration on a charge of malicious mischief, according to the report.
An earlier report from October 8 by Deputy Darryl House stated an individual was assaulted by threats to her life by her husband. Deputy Jeremy Hailey received two reports of breaking and entering, petit larcenty on October 13.
One report states some masonery cement was stolen by an unknown individual. An employee arrived at work and noticed the fork lift was moved and cement was on the ground.
According to the report, an individual broke into the building and used the forklift to steal cement from the building and place it in a vehicle.
Another report of petit larceny was investigated by Deputy Hailey. The owner of a residence on Rockhill Road, Sardis reported he rented the trailer to an individual who never had the lights turned on.
According to the report, the individual had someone hook the lights up illegally. The property owner stated someone kicked open the door. Pictures were taken of the wires going into the electical box.
October 18
• Pope-Water Valley Road resident reported to Deputy House someone stole a dirt bike from his shed.
October 19
• Deputy Jeff Still responded to a disturbance on Sardis Lake Drive where two neighbors got into an altercation. One neighbor stated the other neighbor continuously comes to his house after being told not to.
The neighbor stated he didn’t want to press charges but wanted to make it known that his neighbor has been told not to come back to his house.
• Ridgecrest Drive, Pope resident reported to Deputy Steve McLarty an individual was harassing him over the phone.
According to the report, the resident stated the suspect was calling and texting about tools. The resident stated he left his place of employment five months ago and he knew nothing about the tools.
October 20
• Don Butler Road, Sardis resident reported to Deputy Mark Allen someone stole his a/c unit.
According to the report, the resident went to take out his trash when he noticed the outside part of his air conditioning unit was missing.
October 21
• Deputy McLarty along with Deputy Williams were traveling north on Highway 51 behind a silver Nissan Maxima.
According to the report, the vehicle continuously crossed the shoulder line as well as the center line. The deputies conducted a traffic stop.
Deputy McLarty stated he could smell a stong odor of intoxicating beverage coming from the vehicle and asked the driver for his license.
According to the report, the driver stated his license was suspended for DUI. The driver was asked to step to the back of the vehicle and stand with his feet together and hands to his side.
Deputy McLarty noticed a strong smell of intoxicating beverage coming from the individual and observed the individual swaying side to side with bloodshot, glassy eyes.
The individual was arrested and transported to the Panola County Jail.
• Liberty Hill Road, Courtland resident reported to Deputies Steven Moore and Bill Furniss she heard what sounded like a four wheeler at her residence.
According to the report, the resident was down the hill from her home and ran back towards her residence to find an EZ Go golf cart was stolen.
The resident noticed damage was done to her vehicle by the suspects removing the golf cart. The deputies spoke with the suspect who reported the golf cart belonged to him. Investigator Terry Smith was notified.
October 22
• Orwood Road resident reported to Deputy Hailey an individual stole $150 from his wallet after buying her a cell phone.
According to the report, the resident thought he was having a heart attack but proceeded to inform Deputy Hailey the individual called someone asking about ice cream, meth and green or marijuana.
October 23
• Lawrence Brothers Road resident came to the sheriff’s office to file a report for harassing phone calls on her ex-boyfriend.
• Deputy Furniss was notified of a reckless driver in a silver truck traveling south on I-55. Deputy Furniss observed the vehicle cross over the center line and nearly hit another vehicle as he attempted to make the stop.
According to the report, the driver’s license came back suspended and the driver was asked to exit the vehicle. Deputy Furniss observed the driver stumbling to the back of her vehicle and smelled a strong odor of intoxicating beverage.
The driver was arrested for driving under the influence, wreckless driving and driving while license suspended.
According to the report, after arriving at the jail, jailers found medicine in the drivers purse that was prescribed to another individual.
• Tocowa Road, Courtland resident reported to Deputy John Still he found someone had cut the lock off the gate next to his house and two trailers were stolen.
• Deputies Moore and Furniss responded to a burglary on Earnistine Turner Road where an individual stated he picked up his uncle from the home and upon returning noticed the refrigerator was missing.
According to the report, the neighbor saw who stole the refrigerator.
• Deputy Hailey responded to Fredrick Cove where a resident reported neighbors left their dogs behind after moving.
According to the report, the dog left inside with no food or water and another dog was outside with only water.
Both dogs are pit bulls and were taken from the residence and placed in dog pens at the Sheriff’s Office. Detective Bryan Arnold was notified of the incident.
October 24
• An individual reported to Deputy Hailey he was traveling south on Hammond Road when an individual tried to stop him.
According to the report, the driver backed up and got out of his vehicle when the individual pulled a gun on him.
The driver stated the two had words and then he left. The resident stated the driver was speeding and he yelled at him to slow down.
The resident stated the driver came back to his house and continued to explain he could not fight because he was disabled which is why he had his gun.
Deputy Hailey advised the resident to call the sheriff’s department next time.
• Deputy McLarty responded to Pope Crowder Road for a stolen vehicle.
According to the report, the resident stated she returned home and discovered her 2007 Pontiac was missing. The vehicle was entered on the National Crime Information Center.
• Deputy George Renfroe spoke to a Pride Road resident who stated someone broke into his residence through the north bedroom window and stole Playstation Three games and console from the residence.
According to the report, two games were recovered from another bedroom and prints were lifted from the games. Investigator Smith was notified of the incident.
• McCain Road resident reported to Deputy Britton Crawford someone stole his medicine.
• Sardis Lake road landlord notified Deputy Renfroe of a renter moving his property from the residence. Investigator Beavers was advised of the civil matter.
• Deputy Jeff Still was dispatched to the Sardis Police Department where an individual reported he lost his wallet while fishing at Sardis Lake.
• Courtland resident reported his wife was threatening to harm herself. According to the report, MedStat transported the individual to Merit Health Emergency Room.
• Deputy Crawford spoke to a Curtis Road resident who stated she has been having problems with a few pit bulls running loose in the area.
According to the report, the resident stated the dogs have been displaying aggressive tendencies.
• Deputy Crawford responded to another dog complaint and spoke to a Lemaster Road, Sardis resident who stated three black labs came into her yard and chewed up all of her yard ornaments. Deputy Crawford advised the owner to keep the dogs put up.
• Deputy Bobby Billingsley responded to Henry Heafner Road for a dog complaint where the resident reported the neighborhood dogs were urinating on her air conditioning unit and she wanted to dogs to be picked up.
Deputy Billingsley advised there was no leash ordinance in the county and their only course of action was to file a civil suit against the dog owners.
According to the report, the residents intend on pursuing the civil suit.
• Summer Drive resident reported to Deputy Renfroe while riding his bike he was bit by a brown pit bull. According to the report, the resident had bite marks on his lower left leg.
October 25
• Taylor Road, Courtland resident reported to Investigator Arnold that his rifle was stolen out of his jeep at his residence. The rifle was placed on the NCIC.
• Horn Lake resident reported she left her jacket with her medication in the pocket at a residence on Outlaw Hill Road and upon retrieving her jacket she noticed the medicine was missing.
• Tocowa Road resident reported to Investigator Renfroe someone stole approximately $3,950 worth of property.
• Deputy McLarty responded to Lockstation Road for proberty theft where two back tires and rims were missing.
• Deputy Tripp Williams responded to Macedonia Road and spoke to the resident who reported to have been receiving harassing phone calls from her ex-boyfriend.
October 26
• South Pocohantas, Sardis resident reported that her 2006 White Chevy Impala was stolen. The incident is under further investigation.
• Deputy Clint Roberson responded to Old Panola Road, Sardis for an arrest and while attempting to make contact with the resident Deputy Roberson found a handicapped blind man in a bedroom.
“If an emergency occured such as a fire, he would not be able to exit the building on his own,” Deputy Roberson stated.
Concerned for the individuals well being, Deputy Roberson contacted Investigator Smith who advised he would request the Department of Human Services to do a follow up on the individual.
• Ballentine Road, Sardis resident reported to Deputy John Still she and the suspect have been in an altercation for a few days and the suspect came to the residence and broke the window out of her rental car with a golf club.
October 27
• Deputy John Still investigated a domestic disturbance where the victim stated her boyfriend kicked her and hit her with a stick.
• Deputy Moore spoke to a Main Street, Courtland resident who reported she woke up to someone rubbing her leg and found her father in her bedroom floor.
According to the report, the individual stated she no longer felt safe at the residence. Deputies Moore and Furniss went inside the residence with the individual to collect her belongings and left the residence. Investigator Smith was notified of the incident.
• Railroad Street, Como resident reported to Deputy House the suspect has been calling her threatening to beat her up. The resident stated she wants the suspect to stop calling her phone.
• Deputy John Still spoke to an individual who stated his company leased vehicles to officials for the Luke Bryan concert.
According to the report, the individual stated he went to retrieve the vehicles and found an SUV was stolen from the area.
October 28
• Lawrence Brothers Road resident reported to Investigator Beavers that his son’s vehicle was parked in his yard. According to the report, the resident came outside and noticed the back left door and back left quarter panel was damaged.
